I started working on my families "trees" a couple of years ago . . . picking up where my father left off. It didn't take long until I was "hooked!"

Fortunately I live in Johnson County Indiana - home of the Johnson County Historical Society and its team of outstanding volunteers. Several of my 4G grandparents lived in this county and thanks to the volunteers efforts, I held in my hands their original wills, marriage licenses, etc. A totally awesome experience!

And then I learned about FAG - the tool that allows me to 'put my arms' around the family graphically - pulling them all together with old photos, links, obits, etc. The combination of Ancestry.com and FAG - lets me share what I discover. It really makes me smile to see others pick up my contributions and use them to further their journeys!

I'm also interested in restoring the Boles Cemetery in Bargersville. We've cleared some of the debris and erected the 7' monument of William and Elizabeth Boles. But there's more to do, so if you're from the area and would like to talk about that - please shoot me an email.

Looking forward to meeting and/or working with you!

Sarah Jane Poer Enochs at Mt. Zion Cemetery
Hi Dietra,
There must be a stone for Sarah, because she is listed here:

http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~momonroe/mountzion.htm

on the list of cemetery names from the Monroe County Historical society. The list was compiled in 1968, from the tombstones that were there then. The last time we went to Mt. Zion, to take pics, 2 years ago, the cemetery was in poor condition. There were stones that were not photographable, because they had fallen face down, or were in impossible to get into weeds. Lots of them are just too worn to read. Sometimes I could pick out a word or 2, to compare with the above list, to know who they were, but lots were just too weather worn.
The weeds were terrible, some above my head, and tombstones were really hard to find even.

I got some information for her from her death certificate, here:

https://s1.sos.mo.gov/records/archives/archivesdb/deathcertificates/Results.aspx

I would be glad to transfer her to you, if you wish, just let me know.
Hope this helps.

Patty

RE: Nancy E. Poer (New Augusta Cemetery
I am not related to anyone in that cemetery. I was trying to fill some photo requests so I went to the cemetery as it is very close to my home. That led to me spending a weekend there trying to get pictures of any stones that I could find. Scrubbed mud off of stones, removed piles of debris, and looking closely along the fence line. My husband even helped by picking up stones that had fallen or rolling them so we could see who they belonged to.

I am sorry the picture was added to the wrong memorial. The cemetery is one of the worst I have have been to.I spent a few days there trying to find head stones. I did not notice that there was actually 2 Nancy Poer graves. When it warms up I will go look one more time but I am pretty sure I did not see any other stones with that name. I will remove the photo from the wrong memorial. thank you for letting me know :)

Daniel G. Doty
Dietra,

I have something to add to the story of Daniel. Daniel and Melvina had 2 children in Johnson County before moving to Missouri. They were Ibia C. Doty, died October 4 1864, Aged 1y 1m, and Laura A. Doty, died August 12 1865, Aged 13d. They are both buried in Hopewell Cemetery with no stones. I have linked them to Daniel and Melvina.
