I am a Georgia Tann (Black Market Baby seller) adoptee who searched for over 45+ years for my Birth Parents. In August 2011, with the help of Carolyn Whitaker, I found my birth Mother. I have since joined Ancestry and taken a DNA test in hopes of finding my Birth Father, who at some point in 1946-1947 was in Memphis, Tennessee where I was born. Unfortunately, my Mother (Frances Pauline "Cookie" Herring Robinette) died in 1981. I am still searching. My birth name was Herring (Mother's maiden name)no Father listed. My tree on Ancestry is now private as I have added DNA clues to my POSSIBLE birth Father. I believe he may have been a Powell from Mississippi (a Lieutenant in the Army Air Corp?). I am interested in Herring as well as Siskie/Siskey; Leahey; Phillips; Rumley; Leach & others. I believe Find A Grave provides a wonderful service to all who have ancestors who should be recognized.|

I saw that you are looking for connections to your Herring family. I have a huge group of Herring's in my line. They came from Tennessee in the late 1800's to Bell County, TX. They lived in a place called Tennessee Valley because most of the families there were from Tennessee. There and over the hill near Belton. The Valley is now under the Belton Lake. Lots of them are buried at Resthaven Cemetery at Belton, Bell County, Tx.
Good luck with your search.

With the quick edit feature I have no idea who gave them the parents, but I agree, they could not be his daughters, so I have removed the parents as they were listed. The stones are old and hard to read, but the death year and ages were readable. Birthdates should be accurate.

Memorial 132713675, The mother is correct on this memorial. Blanche was born a Fain as per Census 1910 & Census 1920. She showed up as a Sims on her marriage license to John Albert Smothermon. Blanche and John had one son Johnie Smotherman Jr before their Divorce. Hope this will help you if you are research this family.
Kenneth Britton - Family researcher for 20+ years. Good luck in you search for your birth father. I am trying to find a sister.

I noticed that you left flowers on the memorial site for Sarah Morgan Teague.
I too am kin as she is my 4th great grandmother on my maternal side of the family. I had lots of information on the Taegue side of the family as I have researched for over 40 years. I am willing to share .
I admire your quest for more information on your family. Everyone deserves to know where they come from.
Please let me know if you need any assistance here in Texas. I am a member of Ancestry and other sites so if you find a stumbling block please feel free to request help. I wouldn't be as far in my research If I hadn't had others help along the way.

You can call 501-589-5091 (Marilyn Deckard) or 501-589-2618 (Mary Wilson). They are on the contact list for the cemetery. They can probably get you to the right place for info. I no longer live in that area.

You're welcome. Are you related to Katherine? She was my aunt by marriage and they only had one daughter.

Do you have any info on your birth father? Do you know where he was from? I strongly believe in divine intervention, therefore I believe we crossed paths for a reason. I think it is interesting that you sent an edit for a cemetery that is composed of mostly my ancestors and you were distantly related to them. (Liberty Cemetery) Although there are no Herrings buried there, many do live nearby. Just trying to help put puzzle together. Definitely NOT trying to stick my nose in your business. I'm available if you need to know anything or if you have more info.
