Please help preserve the information contained on the headstone when visiting a gravesite. Weathering and vandalism often obliterate what our ancestors had inscribed on their loved one's headstone. By recording all inscriptions as well as names and dates we can preserve the information for future generations. If you have visited the gravesite, you have first hand knowledge of the inscription that remains legible. Often, pictures posted here don't show the inscription but rather are taken from a distance to show the entire headstone. While this is helpful, it does not tell the whole story. Volunteers are encouraged to record information exactly as it appears, including spacing, misspellings and abbreviations. This information can then be added to the memorial to make a more complete record before the information is lost.
Many thanks to my sister. She is the photographer who gives her time to track down the headstones so we can fill photo requests.
