Bio Photo My husband and I enjoy traveling around Calhoun Co. to various cemeteries. I just happened across this site one night and hope to be a helpful contributor. A seemingly good deed I can do for others, while fulfilling my own curiosity about the very old history that I enjoy so much here in sunny Calhoun. :)

Ok thanks for the transfer, I was in that cemetery once and took a picture of Denver's tombstone but I have never been able to find it again can't remember how to get there. I know it's right in a turn and the cemetery sits right in the woods .

Sycamore and Polings
Jaime,

You looked for Nicholas Poling's marker for me and could not find it. I visited a Sycamore Baptist Church in Calhoun County near Mt. Zion on State Route 16 on Memorial Day and did not find a single Poling.

Is this the cemetery you look in? If so, I believe there is another Sycamore cemetery on County Route 16/23 that is the correct cemetery for the Polings. In fact, I suspect the correct "virtual" placement of the Poling's markers would be in the Route 16/23 cemetery which is known as "Poling, Sycamore, Calhoun County" in "Find A Grave."

Please let me know which cemetery you looked in for Nicholas Poling's marker. And, if you were in the one nearest to Mt. Zion on State Rt. 16, may I ask if you'd be willing to go to the Poling Cemetery on CR 16/23 to look for his marker?

Your Search for Nicholas Poling
Jaime,

I just saw your comment from 2011. Thank you for looking for my Great Grandfathers grave. I am so sad to hear there is no marker. I wonder where the records are for this cemetery. Obviously someone knew it was there at one point.

I'll double check my records. Maybe I have something wrong.

Thank you so much for looking.

Beverly

RE: Paxton photos
No, sorry, I'm not related. I just enjoy finding and taking photographs for others as much as for my own ancestors!

RE: Help
Jaime, My husband's mother was a Paxton, and he remembers her calling him "uncle Webbie" and his wife "Aunt Margi". Her name was Margaret. But other than that he didn't know much about them. I can't find anything on them in the census or in the Charleston Culture Center.
I have two Jaime's on my family tree. Are you either Ed or Wayne's daughter?

RE: Thank you!
BTW, I too am a 3rd-great grandchild of Abner Jehu Paxton. And yes, there is a lot of guesswork about who his parents were. Hope to see better sources/proof of his ancestry. Please share if you find the"goods" on him. As more libraries and court records are digitized perhaps more data will appear. Cheers!
