I first entered into the giant jigsaw puzzle that is Find A Grave in 2011, linking up the descendants of my great great grandparents, Jonathan Stott, Capt. Gideon Lathrop, John Doulton, William Henry Hubbard, William Skinner, George W. Richardson and Darius Warren Adams.

Since 2014, however, I have been working to identify the final monuments of architects, engineers and builders that practiced in Massachusetts. A start on this Virtual Cemetery is here. If you would like to contribute to this effort, please let me know.

Early in 2014, I also started work on early Hudson River and Lake Champlain steamboat captains.

RE: Lucy Cushing Whitwell Parker
Not sure about location of diary - might check for contact info on the person who added the family page to the Scollay Square site to see where the diary came from.

Haven't seen a Photo of William - on Ancestry.Com one family tree does have a photo of Scollay and William Whitwell Parker as young boys.

I'll try a little more hunting...

RE: Lucy Cushing Whitwell Parker
Excellent idea - now if we could find Scollay as well as the last brother, William Whitwell Parker.

See Lucy's diary at:
http://www.bambinomusical.com/Scollay/Diary.html

William was buried in the "Foreign Cemetery" in Panama where he was shot and killed.

And so much for Ancestry family histories - Dr. Scollay Parker died in Manhattan, NYC. The Boston Globe ran an obituary but doesn't say where he is buried.

Since most of the rest of the family is in the same cemetery with Lucy I'm guessing he was buried in New York but haven't been able to find him in Find A Grave or a few other online cemetery listings I've been able to find.

Lucy Cushing Whitwell Parker
I am trying to find the grave of Lucy's son Dr. Scollay Meade Parker. He died March 29, 1909 in New York City (Manhattan per obit). The only death notice I've been able to find does not indicate where he was buried, and he is not on Find A Grave.

Any chance he is also in Mount Auburn Cemetery near his mother and sister Gertrude?

Peter,

Thanks for your correction. I uploaded a temporary photo to the memorial showing the death date as April 21, 1905. I did change the date of death to the 1906 date that you submitted, since it appears to be the correct one.

Thanks,

Bill

Mount Royal Cemetery Photo Request
Mount Royal Cemetery has 165 acres. The burial plot location must be supplied so a volunteer can go take the photo.

You can get this free information by filling the form here: www.mountroyalcem.com/index.php/en/our-services/genealogy-menu.html and in the "Desired Service" field, select "Burial Location (free)" and enter the information.

If the Genealogy page was not helpful then email your request to genealogy@mountroyalcem.com

The cemetery will email you the location (3-10 working days).

Have the memorial updated with the plot number.

You will have made it possible for the photo to be taken.

RE: Joseph P. Davis
Hi Peter,
Not a problem. I don't have a picture or any further information on Joseph. His ancestor Isaac Davis, came from Rutland and settled in Northborough and was a tanner by trade. He had apprenticed as a tanner under his older brother David Davis in Paxton who was my fourth great grandfather. Isaac had a large farm in Northborough near the town line with Westborough. There are several Davis family houses still standing on Davis Street in Northborough, including his father's house (William Eager Davis) and grandfather's house (Phineas Davis).

Hi Peter,

I have transferred management to you. Joseph P. is my third cousin, three times removed.
