|Debby Blalock||Sarah Dowdy|
The information I have about Sarah Dowdy is that she was married to John Wallace Jones. Their daughter Mary Jane Jones Clanton was my great grandmother. Her mother was Mary Reeves (1805-1841) and her father was David Dowdy (1799-1870). I got this information from a research book that one of my cousins wrote. That is really all the info I have on her. I do have a pic of her and of her tombstone. I'm not sure if I posted it on here, but I will as soon as I send this message. This pic was also from the book, but a very kind person on "Find A Grave" took a pic of the headstone for me. I do have more information on Ancestry.com and the name of my tree is Szitar/Clanton family tree. If you are a member you will have access to all the info I have posted there because I have made the tree public. Hope this info helps you and please let me know if you find anything else out.
I guess that would make us cousins!!

Are you familiar with the book, Clanton, Our Cherokee Line, by Arva Lee Bales that was written quite some time ago? She attempts to trace the Cherokee heritage of this line of Clantons. You might log on to the Clanton message board and request a copy of the book from someone who has it in their possession.
There are possibly articles or books in the Stella, Missouri library that might shed some light on this heritage as well. Blanche Marie Pogue, who was married to William Leonard Clanton, was an avid genealogist and wrote many articles. Unfortunately, she died in 2005; however, she resided in Stella, Newton County, Missouri and belonged to the local genealogical society. You might contact the library with your request.
The only thing I have further is that Mary Jane's grandparents (parents of Sarah Callie Dowdy) were David Dowdy (b. in NC) and Mary Reeves (b. SC), who married 3 October 1825 in Lauderdale Co., AL. Hope this is of some help to you.
