|sara m||Campbell Family|
Hi! I'm researching the Campbell branch of my family tree. You posted that you are great grand-niece to Travis Campbell...I am wondering if you know anything about others of that generation. I'm looking for more information of Sarah (Sallie) Campbell, b. 1865, or about her daughter Julia Campbell Reynolds, b. 1884.

Got your message. I am a descendant of John C McKamey. I also have an ex named Mary. Hmmmmm. I will check my notes to see if I know where he is buried.

Hi Mary, I have a family member that has been in the hospital for awhile now in Lexington, KY so I've been driving back and forth to visit with them lately & I haven't been able to focus on my Ancestry much though I have still been looking for info online when I have a chance to.
One cemetery that I am still looking for I realized that I had been very close to, within walking distance from a church but when I was all the way out there I didn't realize it until I was all the way back home (about 20 miles) viewing the church on my Google Map so I am going to try to go back to that one ASAP. Also, I have talked to a few more ole timers that tell me there are more than one or two graveyards located in areas where only one cemetery is listed & this would seem to make alot of sense because I've got death records that say a person is buried in a certain place but when I go there I am unable to locate their grave.
One older man that I stopped and talked to while he was sitting on his front porch didn't know my Dad by his name but he knew his face when I showed him a photo, he told me about 50 years ago when he was much younger and able to get out in the mountains ginseng hunting that he came across several small graveyards with around 10 or less graves in them in some of the specific areas that I mentioned to him so I am so glad I stopped to chat with him awhile. The cemeteries that have 10 or less seem to be the ones that get forgotten the soonest then later on those are the cemeteries that are the hardest ones to find mainly because nobody living even knows the cemeteries are there on the land.
I have an Uncle named Everett Rose,(his Dad was Matt Rose 1886-1950)& Everett is my Dad's half brother (his nickname is Cob, but I don't know why) I haven't saw Cob but once since my Dad passed away so I need to go visit with him and I am going to ask him to give me a history lesson on the area because he lives within only a few miles of the lost cemeteries that I am trying to locate, plus they are his ancestors to & I am hoping he will be very helpful. Truth be told I have avoided him because he reminds me so much of my father it is almost like seeing my Dad again when I look at Cob so that has been kinda hard for me to do. I will let you know if I find anything I do feel like I am close to a big discovery LOL :)~

Mary, I found this findagrave listing for a William Rose that mrried a Sophia Bennett but his middle name is different, could this be a possible ancestor of yours?
The Sophia Bennett Rose seems to match because her parents are Levi Bennett & Nancy Harp http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=45010404

Mary, I know how ya feel about your grandma, my granny "Amanda Sears Rose" died in 1989 when I was 12 & to this day I try to remember what her voice sounded like, if she was right or left handed & little things like that about her.
You and I are indeed related though you have some Rose family members that I have never heard of. I checked my Ancestry family tree and my 3rd great grandfather Larken Rose that I was there looking for when I met you at the library, I believe he is the brother to your ancestor William Jasper Rose, also if I have all of my info correct your Sophia Bennett is the sister to another one of my ancestors Phoebe Bennett that married Lewis Sears. Wow so how ironic is that? You and I had never met, we knew nothing about each other, we just happen to be at the same place at the same time and we have more than one ancestor in common.
I to was in a hurry that day so I wish that I could've stayed longer and showed you what all I have on the Rose family, I have many Rose family members added to my account here on findagrave including every single grave that is readable at the old Rose family cemetery close to what used to be the coal mining town of Packard, KY so you may find more relatives listed on my contributor page.
My Dad was born in 1931 & he knew all of these mountains and back roads very well but he passed away in 2009...I'm sure he knew where all of these cemeteries are that I am currently looking for so when I do finally find them I'm going to go visit my Dad's grave at Roses Creek & tell him all about the new discoveries I've learned in my/his family tree.
Hi, I met you at the library & I wanted to ask you if you had any luck? I have not had much luck at all, I still haven't found either of the 3 cemeteries that I am looking for even after I called the man that had submitted some of the data for the library but he said he hasn't looked into his Ancestry info in a long time and he had been to so many different places that he couldn't remember the exact locations to the small, very old ones that I am still trying to find. All I know for sure is that they are all close to the Poplar Creek area, close to Harps Creek, in Whitley County. I know if I could find these graves alot of riddles would be solved because there's alot of people looking for ancestors with the surnames Rose, Bennett and Harp so the one that my 3rd great grandfather "Larken Rose" is buried in has family members buried there with Rose, Harp and Bennett's all in one cemetery so I am going to keep trying to find this one most of all.
