Mary Briggs
Hale in Fairview, Mancelona, MI
Hi Adrienne,

I am about ready to add George Hale's headstone picture to Find A Grave. You should get a notice from them.

My problem is that I am adding the picture to Fairview Cemetery (North) and the grave is in Fairview Cemetery (South).

Please see if you can get the memorial mover to show where it really is. Of course the problem is that both cemeteries have the same name and being across the street from each other.

RE: Thank you for this beautiful photograph!

You are certainly welcome. (Thanks for reminding me of the other stone. That was an interesting one). You are welcome to use both pictures. Yes, my first name is Joy.

Best of luck.

RE: Thank you for this beautiful photograph!

I am happy I was able to help. I took pictures of nearly all of the stones in 2004. I have no problem at all with you using the picture in your book. I am glad I am able to help. I saw that you were looking for another and I am currently searching to see if I have that one as well. I posted several photo's today. Which stone did I post for you? ( disappears once I upload).

RE: Request permission to reproduce a photo
There are far too many too post here. But I can email them if you would like. I sent copies to K. Clinard who created the pages as well. There was one marker that was broken into several pieces that are unreadable themselves. I have some newer pictures of those that are somewhat better but still not clearly legible.

RE: Request permission to reproduce a photo
I certainly have no problem with you using the picture. I actually have another pic of a different marker for Jane. It is smaller and was moved to another location in the cemetery but it has the information. It is a small, remote cemetery and not for someone afraid of giving their vehicle a bit of a workout. I photographed the entire thing and you are welcome to any pics I have. There are a few that are unreadable and one or two names that did not show up tn the findagrave list.

I am glad I got pictures for you. The stones will soon be unreadable. Other info: The Whitcomb Hotel in St. Joseph MI is named in honor of a shipping agent for the Detroit & Cleveland Steamship Co. in the 1890"s. Any relation?

You could definitely use my photo. I have no problem with that. Good luck! I would love to know when the book is finished and I would be interested in purchasing a copy. :)

RE: gravestones
I think in the future, for stones that are worn, I am going to try doing a rubbing. If that helps to pull up the information on the stone, I can scan that into the computer and post that too.
