RE: Major Harrison Wimberly
He was hung because he was a deserter from the union army. They placed a bounty for him, I got his military records and it shows it. He had gotten news that his 2nd wife was with child, mind you he had been gone for over a year, and the child was not his, we showed up the night before Willis was born. But he still gave Willis his last name. His first son George (my great great grandfather) was by his 1st wife who died not long after George was born.

RE: Major Harrison Wimberly
He was thought to be a deserter from the army during the civil war. On his roll card it has a bounty listed for15 dollars. What I have been told is that the carpet baggers rode up asking him for direction and got him to leave the house they hung him from a tree on his brothers land. I believe it was on Enoch's land. His father Major found him. He shares a grave with him. I am the great great granddaughter of his. My great grandfather was his first son George. What I was also told by my side and by the granddaughter of Willis the second son of Major Harrison? Was that he got word when he was hurt in little rock that there was a rooster in the hen house, he had been gon for about a year, well came home the day before Willis was born. Willis's mother is not the same as George, but their mothers where sisters. The things u find out,lol..u can email me anytime at pooh68dl@gmail.com

Carol, do not give up hope. As a teacher, I hate rudeness, and I have a persistant kind attitude that helps me get around things. As I promised another lady, next time I go to the cemetery, I will only ask for the few most recent requests, then build up to helping others. I think eventually, he will realize I'm not so easily detoured. He sits in a bldg all day to do what I requested, it is his job. I think he just wants to draw easy money and do nothing. I will get your photo with pleasure, as I can't believe anyone could be like that. If nothing else, I'll get his phone number for you, you make a request and I'll photograph it for you. There is more than one way to "skin a cat" as we say around here. Have a great day, and do not loose hope. We will get it! :) Susan Hill

Carole,
I will try to locate Marilyn's grave, but the cemetey attendent was not very friendly nor cooperative today when I stopped by to look up some gravesites. According to him, many other Find A Grave volunteers had been in there and he did not have time to look them all up. Unless, I had a specific one I needed. So, I may have to approach him with one at a time, because when I asked if I could look up the graves, he said he was the only one that did that. A rude middle-aged man, not a good impression was gained by me. This explains why there is such a large list of requests for Okmulgee Cemetery. I even checked the Okmulgee Library to see if they held the Okm Cem records, but all are with the rude man. I will try.
