Birth / death dates
Hi: on the memorials of Isaac Scott Welch (71941542) and his wife, Jean Gallaway Welch ( 71941659), you have mistakenly placed their birth dates and info. into the death date slot. They are probably still living. Thanks, Tom

RE: Grace & Myrtle Widney
Hi Again, I posted the pics I took to your memorials. Myrtle's dates are on the headstone. You can also do a google search for California death records (I use ancestry.com) and possibly you could get more information on Myrtle. Good luck!

RE: Howard & Margaret Widney at Mt. View cem.
I don't think there are memorials yet. I can create them when I have time. Or i can give you the info, you can create them and I can add the photos.

You're welcome. There is also a Grace and Myrtle Widney near Howard and Margaret. I took pics of their headstones as well.

Gorlinski transfers
Hi

Transferred the three memorials I created and managed; Joseph, Valentine and one of their sons. Primary reason for latter, despite not knowing where he's buried, was to allow me to make connection between Joseph and his grandson, Shirley.

My input about Valentine's burial location which is still reflected in her memorial was based on info in her obit which apparently was accurate when she died since the Catholic cemetery didn't exist. Didn't see any method to reflect her re-interment in the Catholic cemetery other than deleting the current memorial and then creating a new one with the same data except the burial revision. Logic would indicate there's a better way, but.................. Will leave it up to you to handle the update however you prefer.

RE: Valentine Gorlinski memorial #134307425
Dan

Hi
I assume you're familiar with the "Polish-American" work of Edward Pinkowski at
http://www.poles.org/db/

If not he has a detailed write up for Major Joseph and Valentine Gorlinski

http://www.poles.org/db/G_names/Gorlinski_JN/Gorlinski_JN.html

and one of their grandsons, Colonel Joseph Shirley Gorlinski

http://www.poles.org/db/G_names/Gorlinski_JS/Gorlinski_JS.html

Since I'm not related to the Gorlinski's my interest in their genealogy largely stems from some work I've done about a "historic families" from my hometown, Stockton, CA. One of these are the Oullahan's (again no relationship). In reviewing some local history I found that they played a significant part in the early politics of the city as well as the State. Of particular interest was a mention of the Stockton visit of General/President US Grant that apparently was prompted because Grant's wife Julia Boggs (Dent) had a brother Lewis Dent who lived in Stockton. Lewis was married to an Alice (Baine) who had a sister Julia who was the wife of an Oullahan.

If you're familiar with Civil War history, one reason Grant became head of the Union Army was his success in taking Vicksburg, MS after a siege. As indicated in the write-up for Major Gorlinski, he performed some mapping of Confederate works that I suspect were used as part of the Union bombardment strategy. I haven't seen any evidence that indicates they did, but I don't think it would be much of a stretch that Grant and Gorlinski met during the siege and a "stranger than fiction" that they were subsequently related (if somewhat remotely).

As far as handling the Find A Grave booking, from your write-up I take it you you have a greater interest in the family than I do. Consequently, I'll be happy to turn management of the memorial to you and you can make whatever mods are appropriate. Need to confirm your # is 47514355.

Regards

Vern D

BTW: In case your interested in what I've done in trying to sort out the relationships and I didn't pass it on, my Rootsweb World Connect DB name for the family is Oullahan-1. (I use the same name from update to update)

Yes I have an Ancestry tree but have kept it private due to several errors. I'll be happy to have you look at it if you want.

Welch family
I was wondering what information you might have on Elizabeth Welch and Theophilus C. Carlton and how you are related to them. I am their third great grandson through their daughter Lucy. Everyone who knew Lucy, including my grandpa and his first cousin who was raised by her, swears she was native american. Both of her sons, one of which was my great grandfather, said this as well. I have a picture of her with her sons and husband. She definitely looks like an indian.
