 | RE: Eick like I said the archives in Trenton are the best place to find the docs but you need to dedicate an entire day and park in the free municipal parking level next door...I've driven there from up here in northern CT, and it was worth it. | | | andrea price-Johnson
 | RE: Eick is this them? If these are them than his yob varies from 1822 to 1830. Was hoping to see a parent living in his household! George was buried after 2 May 1912 at Fountain Grove Cemetery, Glen Gardner, Hunterdon County, New Jersey. Sophia was buried at Fountain Grove Cemetery, as well. I didn't see them but saw some of their children on a website the eagle scouts created in their cemetery project (just google the cemetery name.)
There is a George W. Drake of Lebanon NJ in the 1890 Veterans Scehdule saying that he was a private and served from 1864-65 and was injured? Post office Glen Gardner, disablitiy incurerd, looks like it says: Hearing and smashed lenys (?) doen't look like legs- remarks that he was transfered to anoth bol(?) On the 1900 census it says that he was born in 1831 and married in 1851. You may be able to go to the NJ state archives in Trenton to find that marriage cert...may list parents.
NJ State archives doesn't have the marriage in searchable online database marriages 1848-1878...but familysearch.org lists their marriage as Sophia Sutton to George W. Drake: Marriage: 15 DEC 1849 Flemington, Hunterdon, New Jersey
As for Civil war soldiers there are 4 (no age given): Drake, George W. 15th Reg. Infantry, NJ Volunteers I 731 Description of 15th Reg. Infantry Records Available at NJ Archives Select Drake, George W. 26th Reg. Infantry, NJ Volunteers G 851 Description of 26th Reg. Infantry Records Available at NJ Archives Select Drake, George W. Battery D (1st Reg. Artillery), NJ Volunteers [N/A] 1400 Description of Battery D (1st Artillery) Records Available at NJ Archives Drake, George W. Officers, Warrant US Navy [N/A] 1605 First page of US Navy -Not Available at NJ Archives
There are 5 George W. Drake civil war vouchers and one for a George Drake at archives...again dunno which if any are yours.
I doubt any of this helped you...but I strongly suggest to set aside a day to visit the archives...they have so much there...and copies are very cheap (like .25-.50 cents) there is free parking in the municipal garage next door (don't use the street that was my mistake! Didn't have enough quarters.)

 | RE: PETER V. FARLEY I took lots of pics at the cokesbury cemetery at the church (old cemetery) but not at the newer one...I can check my records if you mention names. I think I mostly added those pics tho...I haven't taken any cemetery pics in over a year. Just so busy!!! | | | andrea price-Johnson
 | RE: PETER V. FARLEY did you add her memorial? It is rare that I get a chance to go out to my hometown in NJ and take cemetery photos...wish I could have done more! One day perhaps. And your welcome! If there are any memorials that you see that I've added without a photo, and you want to see them...well I should have the photos. I take them and then add the memorial if it's not there. | | |
