John McNary 1798-1871
Just wanted you to know that I have added some info to the bio on John McNary. Since his will was produced in court in 1871, I have to conclude that the history is incorrect. I know it has taken me a long time to add the info but ... Kathryn

Nice work!
Just want to commend you on your McDowell work. This is my wife's line through her dad. We're quite impressed that you were able to prove service.

We've always been pretty convinced that this Joseph McDowell was Scots-Irish (almost a no brainer considering the surname). Would you agree with this?

My wife's line is through Elizabeth McDowell, who married William Samuel Duff. At least that's what we'd found so far.

Anyway, thanks!
Brian

Hans, Celina & Raymond Anderson
Hello
I was looking through some of my posts and getting ready to add some, when I noticed there was already a post for Raymond Anderson, his father Hans and mother Celina. Raymond and Hans are related to me. Hans Anderson's mother was the sister to my g grandpa Ben Olafson. I would like to link their pages to Hans, Celina and Raymond. I also have a page for Celina posting her gravestone. I will be happy to add the gravestone to your page and remove mine. Your pictures are wonderful. I do not have any pictures of Hans or Celina. I have some of Raymond when he was young with his grandparents, Charles and Dena Anderson.
I would really enjoy talking with you privately about our family connection.

RE: Caroline Hildreth descendants
Nancy, Here goes and this may be confusing. My GG Grandmother, Rachel (nee Kelley Haines) was first married to Ezra Hildreth. She and Ezra had son Levi who had son's Charles Samuel and Levi Jr. With her second husband Daniel Haines, she had Benjamin (my G Grandfather ) who had daughter Olive Leone and son Daniel (my Grandfather). Olive first married Charles Samuel who was killed in the mines and then she married his brother Levi. So the Hildreth's and Haines from the Olive and Charles/Levi marriages down are related. Olive being my grampa's sister was at all of our family functions. Eventually we had joint Hildreth and Haines family get togethers. There was one Hildreth lady that was the Hildreth genealogist. I am the same for the Haines side. She died and no Hildreth person wanted her records, pictures and etc. so I ended up with them and continue to work on both families and others related to both. You should be able to follow all of this on Find A Grave. I think I have loaded most of both sides. So to answer your other question, I'm not directly related to Caroline Holmes Hildreth but am related her husband Levi. Since we talked a couple of days ago, I have located the grave of Henry R. Hoare in Illinois. He is on Find A Grave. You added a picture of him and his wife Hannah Hildreth on her Find A Grave page. The picture of them holding their son Earl with the long locks. I have about a 8 inch length of his hair that was in a box of the Hildreth holdings that I was given.

We have a Hildreth family reunion in Platteville every summer. I can't remember where you told me you live. If you are close, maybe you could attend this summer.

Do you know who bought your Ellis pictures. I have trying to find a descendant of Rachel Ann Hildreth that married John Marshall Ellis. I'm hoping they might have a picture of Rachel Hildreth/Haines. I know they moved to Michigan but have been unable to locate them. Maybe that's them that you connected with. Rachel was a daughter of Levi and Caroline Holmes.

Hope you can follow this.

Hildreth Pictures
Hi Nancy, what a find! I have some of the same pictures but you have some that I don't have. The Henry Hore (Hoare) picture is great. A lot of stories about him. By chance, do you know if the pictures you purchased are recent acquisitions of the antique store or have they had them forever. Wonder whose pictures they were. I forgot how you fit in. The Holmes family?

Thanks for entering the pictures.
