Avid ancestry.com researcher, I live in Ventura, CA and will be willing to get pictures of gravestones in the Ventura county area.|
Please feel free to use any photos I upload. They are not art, they are YOUR friends and relatives. Please use the information and photos as you see fit. ~ judi
St. Mary's Cemetery aka Cemetery Memorial Park aka Cemetery Park in Ventura, CA is my main focus. I am entering the city burial list information, which states "Burial Date", not date of death. The dates will be close, and as family members step forward I will transfer relatives when requested, or change information as research shows correct dates or names. The city records have been transcribed from two different sources, and I have found errors as I am working on the entries.
Original headstones were removed in 1964. Some were claimed by family members. Some were moved to other cemeteries. Majority of interred remain in place without any markings. The city has a replacement plan for markers requested by family. A few of these replacement markers currently dot the park landscape.

Yeah, there are probably quite a few Lawrence's in the cemetery. Although the W initial could be an error, I doubt it because to me it also looks like a W in the interment records, as well as on the gravestone.
The 3 places to look for Mt Hope Cemetery, besides Find a Grave itself, are the interment records (http://rbscp.lib.rochester.edu/mthope/search), the plot maps (http://crpc.nyrgs.org/), and the survey of surviving legible gravestones (http://mcnygenealogy.com/cem/mh-intro.htm).
Daryl VerStreate, who made that Find a Grave memorial for Charles W Lawrence et al., used the Mt Hope Interment Records to create memorials for practically everyone who died through 1892. So usually if they are in those records and died before then, they will be in Find-a-Grave. (There are some exceptions, but they seem to be almost exclusively people whose last name starts with B, for some reason.)
However, if they died after 1892, then it is more likely than not that they will NOT yet have a memorial created on Find-a-Grave.
Never mind about posting the picture. I didn't realize the situation (i.e., that you created a new memorial and there were already pictures up on another memorial for him and memorials for the other family members).
I can just confirm for you that the pictures on the other memorials are indeed from Lot 430 in Section M, so you can go ahead and remove your duplicate memorial.
|Joel Shore||RE: Re: Photo request for Charles Lawrence (1870) at Mt Hope|
Well, they did often make mistakes with names, so getting the middle initial wrong would not be the worst of their sins. But, I just looked up the page in the Mt Hope Interment Records and, having gotten used to their writing, I think the middle initial they wrote there is stylized capital "W" not an "H". (Compare it with the "W"s in the two instances of "Wm." that are near the bottom righthand side of the same PDF.)
At any rate, I did get a picture of the monument in M-430 and will post it up soon.

I will try to get a photo of the gravesite...but, in the meantime, in answer to your question, it appears that he is buried with a wife who outlived him by 50 years and presumably remarried and is listed as Isadora L. Belknapp (and two presumed children). You can see a plot map for Lot 430 in Section M here: http://crpc.nyrgs.org/ and can read the info listed on the monument for them here: http://mcnygenealogy.com/cem/mthope-sec-m.htm
Sorry just now getting to a reply, information from family bible.

Thank you for bringing my mistake to my attention. I have made the corrections in both the birth and death dates. Thank you.

|Sunny||Follow up - Transfer Requests for Millers|
Just following with the requests that I sent for several folks in the Miller family. Your note to me asked me to use the "Transfer Management" tab for each individual. As there is no tab visible to me with that label, I researched to see how I should send the requests. Instructions advised that I use the "Suggest any other correction or addition" form, which I did that day. I know that it is crazy, busy time of the year, but I just wanted to confirm that there wasn't some other feature that you wanted me to use. Wishing you and yours the happiest of holiday seasons! P.S. So excited that I found these folks! Thank you very much! :)
