 | Burzilla Hicks
Andy, have you ever run across anything on a Burzilla Hicks, (1845-1894) in Stokes County? He was the grandfather of my uncle Jasper Hicks of Mt. Airy, NC. The family always heard Burzilla was hung either by a lynch mob or legally in the late 1890's in Stokes County. We have never been able to locate where he was buried. He was married to Sarah Jane Lawson, whom i beleive was related to the Lawson family that was murdered by their father/husband, Charlie Lawson, on 12/25 1929.

Andy, You may already know that Mary and Tom's daughter Imogene Nunn Fox just died last year. She lived in Valls Creek, McDowell, WV. I made the cast concrete grave marker for Mary Reed Nunn. I have done about 60 now for my kin in the McDowell, WV, Tazewell, VA and Grayson County VA areas that died and never had their final resting places marked. I got to visit with Imogene a number of times in past years. Take care Andy-Dan
Imogene Nunn Fox
(December 13, 1927 - January 26, 2012)
Imogene Nunn Fox, age 84 of Vallscreek, WV died Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Carilion Tazewell Community Hospital in Tazewell, VA. Born December 13, 1927 in McDowell County, WV, she was a daughter of the late Tom and Mary Reed Nunn. She was a member of the Church of God in Hartwell, WV. Mrs. Fox enjoyed working in her yard and was a loving mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren were the joy of her life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Morris Fox, Jr. and one brother, Junior Nunn. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family in her generation.
Survivors include her son, Tommy Fox and wife, Lydonia of Bishop, VA; grandson, Brock T. Fox and wife, Kim of Lexington, KY; two granddaughters, Heather Dillard of Roanoke, VA and Tammy Rose and husband, Tom of Lexington, KY; five great grandchildren, Brooklyn Fox, Jacqlyn Frank, Madelyn Fox, Blake Rose, and Amber Rose.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, VA with Evangelist Roy Fritz officiating.
Entombment will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Bluefield, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9 PM Saturday, January 28, 2012.
