William Brigance b. 1750
Hello cousin! You are just the person I've been looking to talk to. :) Came across our William Brigance tonight and was wondering if you know anything on a James Brigham who m. a Priscilla Crabb in Sumner Co. Also, any idea why the name changes back and forth from Brigham to Brigance?

Are you sure the son of William who was named James was b. in 1765? Not 1775?

I go through James C. Brigham and Priscilla Crabb who d. in Benton County. Then through their daughter Martha Frances (Brigham) Holland. Interesting that they are all listed as Brigance on the 1850 but they go by Brigham on marriage records and on gravestones.

If you can help shed any light on this bunch for me, I'd so very much appreciate it.

Christa

RE: Joseph B Massey,Perry cemetery
The county was divided into 2 counties, Tate & Desoto Counties. Perry cemetery is close to county line so probably reason for duplicate.

picture of 'lena' Massey
In the Greenleaf Cemetery listings there is a picture in 'Lena' Elenore Massey's memorial. Which one is her & which is her sister Nanny? Just wondering...not real important if you don't know.
Also was wondering how you're related to my Masseys. ;-)

Martha, Normally I go by Census Data, which is usually correct. However words that sound alike is sometimes whar the census takers hear, probably is so in this instance. Case in point Hale/Hayes. Certainly the death certificate holds the greater acurracy. Bill

RE: Martin/Wallace connection
Hi Martha,
Reuben Wallace's son, Evan Wallace, married Louisa Elizabeth Martin. One of their sons, William James Wallace, married Sallie Adair. Their daughter, Mary Jeffie Wallace married William Sherrod Martin. William Sherrod Martin's grandfather, Sherrod Martin, and my gg-grandfather, Benjamin Franklin Martin, were brothers.
My Martin ancestors migrated to Arkansas from DeSoto County, Mississippi after the Civil War. I'm not sure when Sherrod and his family made the move, but they settled in Beebe, White County, Arkansas. BFM and his family also settled in Arkansas in Conway County, northwest of White County. BFM's first wife, Sarah, died in 1886. BFM remarried and moved to White County in 1887. He died there in 1894. I have located Sherrod Martin's grave in Beebe, but I have been unsuccessful in locating BFM's grave. I feel certain he is buried in White County. I have probate papers his widow filed for his personal property in White County.
Any information you may have on your Wallace ancestors will be interesting to know. I look forward to hearing from you.
