RE: Phoebe Terry
I will refuse the snow!!
Well, the Turner name is my ex's and my children's name. I divorced back in the eighties. Did it once don't feel the need to repeat it. I was a Federal Agent for 30 years before I retired. Have been in a great realtionship with Stephen for 28 years.
My oldest brother is a Nam Vet, he is a Marine. I learned years and years ago, once a Marine always a Marine, never ever say "was a Marine" unless they are dead.
My maiden name is Bronson. As for being related, chances are high. My beloved grandmother who was another "straight shooter" told me as I was growing up in the Mohawk Valley area, "do not marry any one in this area, you are related to all of them." Since she had 19 children and the rest of the family felt it was their obigation to populate the world, she is probably right. The more genealogy I do the more I know she was right. I am one of twelve children. I only had two, a boy and a girl. As I tell people I had one of each kind and they don't make any other kind.
Always enjoy the grandbabies, they are our reward.

RE: Phoebe Terry
Have to rub it in, I am in the Capital District of New York, we have not seen any snow yet. I went west a couple of weeks ago to visit my brother and sister-in-law and they had snow. We still visited a few cemeteries that we wanted to take pictures in. They are calling for snow showers this weekend, we will see. My sister-in-law is always amazed about how much difference a hundred miles can make. While I grew up in that area I am not a fan of snow. I also am not a fan of living in the south with no changing of the seasons. So, I guess I have found the best possible world.

RE: Phoebe Terry
Life is good!! I am happy that you were able to make the family connections. Sometimes people get offended because I am a logical individual. I tend to state the facts and only the facts. Sort of like Joe Friday on the old FBI series. Guess that gives away my age (65)
The picture is the only picture I have as a baby. My granddaughters are prettier.
It was good to hear about your success after a week of people questioning my facts.
Thanksgiving and Christmas will be filled with family coming home. We will all be thrilled when they arrive and after a week be just as happy when they leave:-). I hope for the holidays you are surrounded by the people you love as I will be.

RE: Phoebe Terry
That is family. As I have always told my children, you can not pick your family. What you don't agree with change. Sometimes children grow up with abandonment issues, abuse issues or other issues and they transfer them to their children. Then one day a single child decides I am going to do better by my children and they do. And our family is better. Of course there are those that don't. We just keep hoping that the "betters" out weigh the "worse". That is family.

RE: Phoebe Terry
When you originally posted I did a quick search on Ancestry to verify your information. The only entry I find for Phebe Terry is the 1860 census which lists this family in Salisbury, Herkimer County, NY:
Lewis Terry age 48 birthplace France
Phebe Terry age 47 birthplace in Canada
Albert Terry age 17 birthplace New York
Victor Terry age 15 birthplace New York
Hiram Terry age 13 birthplace New York
Elizabeth Terry age 7 birthplace New York
I also tried Phoebe Terry and Lewis/Louis Terry, no more information.
FYI, if you are researching New York State residents a good free site is
This is a free site that has old newspapers from all over New York state and some other states. Like Find A Grave you do have to register but, there is no charge. I would suggest you start with Phebe and Lewis and then go to the male children in your research. Sometimes if you start with the children it leads you back to the parents. Females are harder to track. While I know it is not much information and it still needs to be verified I hope it helps. It does appear that Phebe was born in Canada and Lewis in France.
Happy hunting!

RE: Phoebe Terry
While you seem annoyed, Phebe (not Phoebe) Terry, Find A Grave#68696094 was a daughter of D. and M.H. Terry, never married. She was a child. She was also sister to Charles Terry buried in the same cemetery. So yes, I do know something about her. I suggest you keep looking. If you know that your ggg grandmother is buried in Herkimer I would suggest you create a memorial for her in the appropriate cemetery.
