Mary Hill
I am convinced that I have found a census record for your great-grandmother, Mary Hill. Since you are managing her memorial, she should be linked to her mother, Martha Hill wife of Knute Hill. Her findagrave number is 59001331. I would be glad to manage this memorial if you would transfer it. I found two 1885 census records for this same family. They must have moved from South Dakota Territory to the state of Iowa that same year or vice versa. There are some serious transcription errors for these records so you have to read the census itself and figure it out. The family is listed as follows on both records and they were all born in Norway:

Knute K Hill - Father (1847-before 1921)
(No death record. Census records often made errors of dates and I think this one is suspect since he was only 19 when Henry was born. Their son, Henry Hill, stated on his passport application in 1921 that his father was deceased. Henry is not listed on these census records. He was 20 years old at the time and was probably out pospecting since he was a miner in Alaska in 1900)

Martha K Hill - Mother (1840-1918)

Mary K Hill - Daughter (1868-1929)
(The Iowa census has her birth year right)

Lizzie K Hill - Daughter (1873-?)(No other records)

Nelson K Hill - Son (1875- 1960)
(Nelson had a huge family and descendants. He left the family and got a divorce so they are on separate census records. His family claimed that he was born in Bergen. ONe of his sons was in the Stockton, Wisconson State Hospital for the insane.)

Martha K "Mattie" Hill - Daughter (1877-1962)(She married William Alexander Seamanson and they had one son. No descendants)

RE: Mary Hill Hall
You probably shouldn't enter Bergen in the place of birth since the place is only near Bergen. But you could enter the "county" or parish area, which is Hordaland. The explanation could be put in the Bio

Mary Hill Hall
Hi Louise, I am quite certain that Mary was born near Bergen, Norway. I found an application for passport for her brother Henry Hill that says he was born near Bergen. My father told me he thought she was from Bergen. Wish I could find where that would be. Will keep trying. Since you manage her memorial, could you update that? Thanks
