RE: john l. johnson
The John L. Johnson photo image is a CDV from my great great grandfather Col. Norman J. Maxwell's photoalbum which I am in possession of. I do not know where else an original image comes from but you are welcome to use the image that I have provided. If you are going to re-post the image on a website such as Facebook, etc., please credit the image back to me, i.e. used with permission, David L. Welch Collection, all rights reserved. Glad you found it! I have many more Roundhead photographs on my website at

I am related through the marriage of Charles Fremont Kefover and Anne Hamilton Searight (d/oCol. Thomas Brownfield Searight). I am directly related to the Searights and to the Brownfields. Any information you have to share would be greatly appreciated.

William Searight and Rachel Brownfield Searight are my ggg grandparents.

Find A Grave Memorial# 7332690
The photograph uploaded as Sam Matteson, is most likely not the same Matteson as the memorial. I would venture the photograph was taken sometime after 1870 but before 1890. That said the man in the photograph is no more than 30 years old. Too young to be the man of the memorial, who would be 50 years or so.

RE: john l. johnson
Thanks the message regarding the Capt. John L. Johnson photo. The image was from my great great grandfather Col. Norman J. Maxwell, who commanded Co. E, then the entire regiment later in the Civil War. I knew Johnson's death date from other records and found his grave listing on If you are interested, I have a facebook webpage "Society of the Roundheads" for direct and lateral descendants or other friends of the 100th Pennsylvania Roundhead regiment. Also, please visit my website on the 100th Pennsylvania at ---Regards

Hi scot, you do not have to manage a memorial in order to add photos, you just add them. If I have an error on the memorials I can make the corrections, forward the information to me and I'll gladly make the corrections.
