RE: Lavon
Hi Don--when you approach the cemetery headed toward Hall, take the first entrance on your right. LaVon and Jack are down over the hill. You will see a stub of a road that deadends in that area. My sister and I tried to clean up the bronze markers, but we needed a shovel to chop out the grass. It has encroached on the markers, especially Jack's. There is also a granite marker that is fairly large to mark their graves. If I can help you find anyone else, please let me know! Jennifer

RE: Russell Queen
Don, thanks for updating. Russell Vaughn and my mother were first cousins. We all knew him as "Bird Legs," or "Bird" for short. They are all gone now and sadly missed.

Check listings for Tenmile Baptist Cemetery. The Historical Society cemetery readings list a stone for him and his wife there. No personal knowledge. Hilda

RE: Marvel Thrash
Don,

I would love to see the pictures of Charlie and
Sallie Thrash. How do I access them?

RE: Marvel Thrash
The house you have described is the house where
Tim and Margarite Thrash lived. My parents
(both deceased) visited them there in the 1960s
and showed us pictures. We saw the house when we were in Petroleum, but I did not realize that
Tim and Marvel grew up in that house. My dad and Tim were like brothers since Tim's grandmother raised my dad and they lived up the street from Tim and his family. We did not go to the cemetery because we did not have a 4 wheel drive vehicle. I hope to go back one of these days and go to the cemetery. Beverly

RE: Marvel Thrash
Thank you for all of the info. I assumed that my dad was raised by Charlie's mother who my dad referred to as Ma Thrash. I did not realize that Sallie's mother's last name was also Thrash.
My sisters and I went to Petroleum in July - our
first time there. Where is Charlie and Sallie's
house located? Is it the one that was the post office where Tim ( Marvel's brother) and Marguerite Thrash lived? Do you know where Ma Thrash lived?

Marvel Thrash picture
Don,

Thank you for the picture of Marvel Thrash. Her
grandmother raised my dad, Carl Kenneth Cain. Do
you know anything about her grandmother? Also,
do you know what the building is behind her in the picture?

Thanks,

Beverly C
