I live in California and my husband and I visited Mount Hope a couple of summers ago looking for relatives buried there. A couple of gentlemen who work there were very helpful and I am very appreciative of their help. What I didn't know at the time is that I have more relatives buried in your cemetery. The reason is that he was one of my grand uncles who was sent to an orphanage by my great-grandmother when he was very young. I think because her new husband did not want to financially support the children from her previous marriage. From what I understand, she had a change of heart and tried to get the kids back, but two didn't rejoin the family. William Watson Smith, Sr. was one of them. His original name was William Stewart Watson. I recently found documentation of his adoption and burial in this cemetery. What's interesting is that his mother and one brother is also buried there. Apparently, you put up the memorial for his grandson, Howard W. Smith. I am requesting that you turn over Howard's memorial to me and if I am able to find closer relatives than I am, then I will turn his memorial over to them. Also, if there is anyone available to take a picture of Howard's grave, I would sure appreciate it! Thank you so much.

Thanks for taking the time and effort to take pictures of Ella and Benjamin Anderson's graves. Not related, but then I wouldn't know that without you. Puts me one step closer, you know? Thanks again.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Betty had 7 other children who died of diphtheria in a terrible 24-day period in June and July of 1882. They are buried in the Ravine River Cemetery in Skanee, Michigan.
