|Susanne D||Photo Request|
Hello, I'm a find a grave photo volunteer who lives near the Memorial Park Cemetery.in Skokie, IL. There is some confusion about photos at this cemetery, but when I contacted the cemetery, they said photos are allowed. However they will charge me $10 for more than one lookup. You can call the office and request one lookup. If you can post the location in the photo request I will attempt to get the photo for you. The number is 847-864-5061. Please don't email me with the location, because there are 180 open requests. Susanne D.
i forgot to mention, i snapped shot of another 2 person stone of similar style near calvin etc, names are Charles Robert Kane april 12, 1953 and Margaret Bell Kane Nov 25 1965 if you know where you want that photo, let me know.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you! We went away for a week.
That stone is very hard to read because of the color and I was not happy with the way the pic turned out, but I don't think it would be any different any other time of the day. It was just the color of the stone. Anyway, it was another name beside his. George. I posted it on his memorial also. I hope that answers your question.

You are very welcome! That stone was real hard to photograph! I hate that color because you can hardly read it even in person! I also added pics to the others that were listed on it.

You're welcome! I couldn't find Francis. There were a lot of McGonagle's there and there was a Francis, but not the right one. Sorry! I'll check it out to see if he might be in another cemetery. There quite a few that I could not find.

I did a little more research, which you may have found out by now. Apparently there was a mausoleum on what is now an empty grassy knoll. It was taken down in 1976 as it was falling down. The people there were reburied, the book says, mostly in Section 4. Do you suppose they reburied them without any markers? Section 4 is right across from where the mausoleum used to stand.

You are so right about possible flooding. That area of the cemetery is right across the road from the Fox River. It's also kind of low lying and I'm sure it has flooded at some times. However there are a few marked graves in the same area. The only phone number I can find is (630) 906-6800. I don't know where the phone is, the office always seems deserted. The cemetery book mentions Dieterle Funeral Home as holding records, it is located about a half a mile down the river (630) 897-1196. I was just poking around the internet and found a reference to a Riverside Mausoleum in Montgomery. Maybe I will just have to open my eyes better the next time I drive up there! I don't recall seeing anything like a mausoleum!

I went looking for the Barkers again today. A couple of days ago I searched section 4, block 2, lot 10 and lot 9 and found lots of empty space, and the stones in the area were for people who died in the 1980s. So I checked the cemetery book. In addition to the section, row and lot numbers there was another line "Crypt 3 (or 4), Row G (or L or H), and then "No Corr." " No Corr. was not in the list of abbreviations and I have no idea what it means. Crypt to me means a mausoleum or other kind of upright structure, of which there are none in that cemetery.
Not sure where to look next.

I went off this morning to look for Arthur Barker's stone. At the library I couldn't find him in the Oak Ridge Cemetery listing, so I checked the obituary index. He's there and I could send you the copy of his obituary. it says he died in DeKalb, IL and was buried in Fairview Cemetery, which is in DeKalb.
But that's not the end of the story. When I came out of the library my car wouldn't start - ended up buying a new car!! I had been planning on it for a couple of months, so that just pushed me into it : )
