Am I Really Me? |
I started out calmly, tracing my tree,
To find, if I could, the makings of me.
And all that I had was Great-grandfather's name,
Not knowing his wife's nor from whence they both came.
I chased him across a long line of states,
And came up with pages and pages of dates.
When all put together, it made me forlorn,
Proved poor Great-grandpa had never been born.
One day I was sure the truth I had found,
Determined to turn this whole thing upside down.
I looked up the record of one Uncle John,
Then found the old man was younger than his son.
But then when my hopes were growing quite dim,
I came across records that must have been him.
The facts I collected - they made me quite sad,
Dear old Great-grandfather was never a Dad.
I think someone surely is pulling my leg,
I'm not at all sure I'm not hatched from an egg.
After hundreds of dollars I've spent on my tree,
I can't help but wonder if I'm really me.
Hi, My name is Debra
Raised in small town in North Louisiana, Live in small town in East Texas.
I started searching for my Dad's family on ancestry.com and from there connected with findagrave.com This is were I found my grandmother (which I never met) where she was buried. My Dad never spoke much about his family. His mother died when he was very young. So I had little information to start with. Since then I have connected with a cousin and half Uncles that has giving me a little more information that has my tree growing. "Slowly" but growing. I made the decision to join findagrave as a volunteer to help others to find and see where there ancestor's are buried and contribute to adding memorials to this site. This is an "Awesome!" site to come to. I get such joy and a great connection when I visit my families memorial page. I love walking the cemeteries. It's like stepping into a different world, It gives me a sense of Peace.
So I continue my search of the Nelson's and hope to be of some help to others searching for their families. Shoot me an e-mail or leave me a message if I can help you in anyway I will do my best. Take care of each other and keep our loves ones that has passed on in memory forever...

Hello again ~ Another THANK YOU for your time & effort in obtaining and posting the wonderful headstone photos for me of Peter Floyd Gibbs & his wife, Martha Ann "Annie" Shadowens Gibbs in DeBerry Cemetery. I appreciate it so much! I especially appreciate the close-ups of each person's name & info.
I am wondering if you would allow me permission to use the photos in my Family Tree? Any consideration is appreciated!

THANK YOU so very much for obtaining and posting the headstone photos for James K. Polk Gibbs in DeBerry Cemetery, Deberry, TX ~ they are so crisp & clear!
I was wondering two things:
1. Could you post the Dual Headstone one to the memorial for his wife: Thelma O. Laffoon Gibbs (Find A Grave Memorial# 65846714) also?
2. May I have permission to use the photos in my Family Tree? Any consideration is appreciated!
By the way, I really enjoyed reading the poem you have posted on your profile ~ I had never seen that before.
Thanks so much for everything & have a great week!
