RE: Alice Carruthers, MA Veterans - Agawam
Hi Duffy,

The cemetery indicated that plans were in place in June of 2011 to arrange the service and have Alice interred with her husband. They said the paperwork was completed by an immediate family member but then the family never contacted the cemetery to finalize the plans for the service or the transfer. The cemetery personnel said that they would be happy to have the memorial service and burial as soon as the family makes their wishes known to them.

Best regards,

Alice Carruthers, MA Veterans - Agawam
Hi Duffy,

After I accepted this photo request, I checked online with the National Graves locator to verify that Alice had been interred with Floyd, however there was no record listed for her in the database in Agawam, nor any other Veterans Cemetery. I went to the cemetery to see if somehow they had overlooked the entry, but only the original stone for Floyd is there. If she had been interred, her information would be inscribed on the back of the stone. I did take new photos of Floyd's stone. I know the folks at the cemetery office pretty well and will be checking with them on Monday or Tuesday to try and discover if someone in the family had a change of heart or if there is some other type of glitch. I am extremely familiar with this cemetery and how it operates, and I have taken about 2000 photos here so you can be assured that there is no stone here for Alice. I will follow-up with you later to let you know if I have discovered anything new concerning this situation.

Best regards,
Dave McCaffrey

No intentional connection, just a coincidental photo request!

RE: Swen Johnson
Go to Findgrave and on the left, under "actions" choose cemetery lookup. Put in "logan" "United States" "Utah" and "Cache County" in the places where information is requested.

The page for the Logan City Cemetery should come up. On the upper right, click on "Add a name to this Cemetery." It will allow you to put the information about your ancestor. When the first memorial is successfully created, it will give you the choice to add another name to the same cemetery. Do the second and third memorials the same way. When the third is complete, do not choose to add another name, but to go to the memorial you just created. On the lower right will be a box to click on that says "request a photo." When you follow that link, it will send email to people close to Logan, and eventually you should have someone respond to your request. When you are still looking at one of the memorials you just created, there is a link on the left that allows you to search for all the people with the same surname in the Logan Cemetery. That's the quick way to find the other two memorials again, and you can request photos for them too.

Hope this helps a bit,

RE: Swen Johnson
I am only rarely in Logan, as it is over an hour away, and my only reason for going is because my in-laws are buried there. What do you mean when you say there is no record when you search? Findagrave will have no record of them unless you or someone else enters the information on the Findagrave website. Once the memorial has been entered, you can request a photo, and that request will go out to volunteers who live close by. However, when I am next in Logan, I will try to find it for you.

His name is on the bottom of the memorial. It usually means he was cremated and his ashes were buried or sprinkled on top.

The stone is too eroded for the inscription to show up on Find A Grave. I have a raw photo that shows more that I can e-mail to you if I had an address.
