Bio Photo I am a retired newspaper editor in Ridgefield, Conn., and have written extensively about the town's history (see website,
I have been trying to add as many Ridgefield graves and/or photos as possible, supplementing the fine work of others, particularly Gary Boughton and Karen Kelly plus, at St Mary, Donna Barber. Almost all of the cemeteries in town have been completed.
I am also working the "new" St. Mary Cemetery in Danbury, have completed Bald Hill Cemetery in Wilton and Green Cemetery in Bedford, and have been working on other cemeteries in Groton, Vt., Berryville, Va., and Hilton Head Island, S.C., which I occasionally visit.)

REQUESTS: I am happy to update memorials with more information, especially biographical. Please contribute pictures!

Thank you Mr. Sanders! I had always hope to get to Connecticut while I still lived in NY, but it never happened. Now I live in NC with no hope of ever getting there, so your efforts on my behalf are appreciated more than I can express

St. John

St. John gets the most hits and appears to be what is actually on the gravestone. Perhaps best?

Hi Jack,

Looks like both are on the same gravestone.

Thank you!
I woke up today, and in checking my email, found a message that you have added a photo of my 3rd great grandmother's grave. Thank you! I'm thrilled! I hope to visit these sites one day.

RE: Charles Oravez - Branchville Cemetary
Thank you, Jack. I may just do that.

My mother's family is from Georgetown. The family name is Barrett. My grandfather (Harry James Barrett) bought many plots there and quite a few have been used for many of his children who are interned there.

Charlie isn't interned at Branchville. When we do bury his cremation remains, it will be at Riverside Cemetery where we have 5 cremation plots.

Charles Oravez - Branchville Cemetary
Hello! I can't even begin to tell you how coincidental this is!

It has been years since I've been on this site and today I did. I searched for my uncle Charles Oravez and found that you had just put a picture of his stone.

This stone has been lost since he died. Branchville said they couldn't find it and Riverside Cemetery in Norwalk (where the plots are) couldn't find it either.

He was cremated and we still hold his ashes so the stone wasn't so much a priority.

Now, that I know where it is, I'll be contacting Branchville Cemetery.

Thanks so much!

RE: Stina Anderson
Hey Jack-
I found the following about how that type of duplicate can happen:

Q: Why are there multiple copies of the record I submitted?

A: Duplicate entries sometimes happen when you use the "back" button to view a newly entered record... it is best not to use that button to navigate our site because it can -- as you already know -- result in duplicated records. The other possibility is that when you are trying to edit a record you have already saved, you are using our submission form and recreating the entire record, which results in the creation of an additional record.
