I am so dependent on others to help with my Smith genealogy in Virginia, I figured the least I could do is help in my home area on South Carollina.

Smiths in Texas
Hi! I am doing some research for a family in Gholson, Texas. They are looking for the actual names of the parents of Amon C. Smith (b. 1858 in AL) and William Whitfield Smith (b 1860 in AL). The mother of these men was also the mother of Allie Brooks Kelley, born 1872 in Texas (by her second husband, and we're also not sure of his full name but think he was from Georgia. Can you help?

Many, many thanks!

To be more clear, I am the grandson of H H and Madeline Pritt. She was a sister to your grandfather. I knew your grandparents well and am a friend to Tommy (Jim).

Old Lancaster City Graveyard
This cemetery has been gone since 1909. It is said that all graves were moved to either Forest Rose Cemetery or Elmwood Cemetery but, no records were kept on who went where. Also it is believe that only stones were moved. I know for a fact that in 1980's they were doing some digging at the firehouse that sit beside the old cemetery and they found bodies in unmarked graves. I work at this firehouse and have talked to and seen photographs.

Christopher.... Thank you so much for the photos & especially your time and effort. Also I appreciate your adding two of their sons and linking them. I did change Janette to Jeanette... unsure if I had seen her name that way prior to your photo. Thanks again from Jeanette's cousin, Fran... :)
