RE: Williamson vs Adams
No, I don't know why he finally settled on using the Adams name all the time, because in earlier years he used Williamson and Adams interchangeably (to sign documents).

It is my belief that Asa Lemuel Adams was also a child of Lemuel Williamson. He was less than 22 months old when Penelope married Lemuel. Asa always used the Adams name, and maybe that had some bearing on why Byrd began to use it. Also, local people probably referred to them both by Adams since old Lemuel apparently died about 1818 and Penelope lived on until about 1855. (Penelope also sometimes used Adams after Lemuel's death.)

I've found many instances during my years of research where people were referred to by surnames other than their legal names, i.e., a step-father's or guardian's.

Hi, I wondered if you had a particular interest in this person as she is my great great aunt by her first marriage to John Johnson who I am trying to find. I appreciate the photos and wondered if you would mind if I used them in our family tree. Kind regards, Sharon Johnson

I just wanted to thank you for taking the picture of George Duke's grave stone per my request. I am working on my families ancestry and I love having pictures that I can add to my books! Thanks again, Nancy Smith
