|I like the Findagrave format because it provides a forum where past generations can be brought to life- showing their faces, families, friends, homes, workplaces - together with links that join them to other generations. I like that the format is interactive and that others can suggest corrections, edits and that here there is a pooling of infomation and photos. I encourage anyone looking at my memorials to use them as a starting point and that everyone do their own research and verification of anything they see here. |
I am most fond of San Francisco, California, European history, as well as the history of Resö, (a small island on the west coast of Sweden where my grandmother was raised).
In May, 2011 I began a comprehensive record of the churchyard at Resö/Galtö. This is a huge project that includes the newer graves on the far side of the wall away from the church.
The Resö/Galtö cemetery site is a work-in-progress. It will take years to polish and complete. Dates, relationships and photos are being added and refined daily. Though the data is reliable, some of it needs to be verified. Oral histories, web sources, and some primary sources are included and sometimes conflict with eachother. I have tried to point out any conflicts, discrepancies, and questions. Please add any/all info you might have to correct/fill-out these memorials.
Find-A-Grave contains memorial entries contributed by members of the public. Therefore, the information may not reflect all data discovered in the official records.
The information stated within our records is believed to be correct, based on the research compiled and the intent of the submitters. Researchers are hereby urged to verify said documentation through all available resource avenues.
I welcome your enquiries, additions and corrections.

|S. Melton||Horsfall Family|
I ran across your info on the Horsfall family of Oregon, formerly of Yorkshire. I am a descendant of the Horsfalls but my branch ended up in New Zealand, coincidentally I now live in Oregon. I am trying to connect my branch and wondered if you have any further info or suggestions. My GGG-grandmother was Esther Horsfall, she married John Chew in England, and they emigrated together, along with at least 2 of her sisters. There are also other Horsfall branches in New Zealand which I am trying to link. Thanks

Thank you so much for the wonderful Memorial Information for the Geertje and Heinrich. Even though no tombstones have been found, it is great to honor them here. So sad that more records are not available. I am so grateful for what we do have and am happy to pass on what I can. Brenda
|D. D. Thompson||Edit Tab|
I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but Find-a-Grave recently implemented a new edit feature where edit requests appear on an "Edit" tab on your contributor page. So if you open your contributor page on Find-a-Grave and click on the edit tab, you'll see edits people have sent you. That allows you to accept them. I just sent you some GPS coordinates for Grover Adlai Schomaker, Memorial# 49944420. Thanks.
Hello my name is Magnus Sandberg and live in Sweden. I am related to Karl Edwin Spindel from Resö. I was wondering how you are connected to him? My mothers name is Eivor and she is the daughter to Ernst Bolin Spindel.

(Sorry for the constant messages) I also did a quick search for William on Family Search and did a date range for death as '1941 to 1948' in Oregon and the only info I found on their was 1942 as the year of death, no month or date given and the place was Lane County, Oregon.
The birthdate for him I found at the Coos Historical Museum was listed as October 16th, 1898 and middle initial was listed as 'B'; on Family Search, I found his World War 1 draft card listing his name on the card as "William Horsfall 3rd" listed as age 19 and listed birthdate on the card says "October 16 1898"

I did a grave search on Forest Lawn's website at the Glendale site and according to their website, he passed away November 24, 1942. And I also did a search on their site for the Hollywood Hills site and according to that search, the results came back as "We have no matches for 'William Horsfall'"
Their website is forestlawn (dot) com

While doing some inventory at the Coos Historical Museum, I came across William Horsfall's date of death (or assumed date of death). It was listed as November 23, 1948 in Eugene, Oregon. And his burial was listed as Forest Lawn in Glendale, CA but I will try to verify and double check before any corrections are made.
