I started doing genealogy back in the early 1980's, researching the Jewett (my mothers' maiden name) Family in the Wright County, Minnesota area. That was back before the computer, when it was door to door, phone calls, or US mail. I gathered 18 notebooks full of information and now am slowly getting that information listed on Ancestry.com. I started back on my family research in February 2011 after retiring in January of that year. Unfortunatly, most of the people I talked to back in the 1980's can now only be found on Find A Grave. To any of you doing family research, I suggest you get to the oldest family members first and get as much information as you can before it is lost to time. Some of their stories (not always true) are interesting and more importantly, informative to your research. Since starting back up this year, I have made some awesome discoveries thanks to the web. Lots of it I would have never found had it not been for the internet. Find A Grave is an awesome site, people helping people. I can't say enough good things about it. All the people I've met on here so far have just been so helpful and friendly. Makes you want to just go out there and hug them all! I live near the little town of Nimrod, Minnesota in Wadena County located in west central Minnesota. I used to travel the whole northeastern part of the state in my work and drove past many cemeteries, not ever knowing what I was missing out on. Maybe that's a good thing, I would have never got my work done! To all of you who have helped me, I thank you sincerely and will do my best to help as many folks as I can in their research. If you are interested in a transfer on any of the graves I have entered, I will gladly do a transfer as long as they aren't in my family line. It does not matter to me how distantly they are related to you, if they tie in to your lines somewhere down the road, I'll gladly transfer them. I don't think there's any prize money for most memorials managed, is there?

PLEASE USE EDIT TAB ON MEMORIAL FOR REQUESTING TRANSFERS!!!
I am working on several cemeteries trying to fill in as much information as possible and trying to make as many links as possible. I therefore am sending out a lot of correction requests. If you don't want, or don't know how to make the corrections, please just transfer the memorial to me with a note you want it back and I will make the corrections and additions and transfer it back to you. I am not interested in managing thousands of memorials, I already have too many now! Jim C. | |

 | Townsend graves I have a photograph from a genealogy collection of the grave of Minerva A. Townsend. Also there is one in the collection of the person you have listed as Arthur. The photograph clearly shows his name as Abner, dates the same. Ruby Coleman rvcole@charter.net | | | wvy

 | Schmitz Family Jim,
I am very new at this Find A Grave site but I do have a lot of experience with Ancestry.com. How do I go about adding Obituaries and other information to the Find A Grave web site?
If you want, you can transfer the Schmitz family members which belong in my mother's ancestry to me and I will attempt to keep the sites current. I have a family portrait of the Hilarius and Rosa (Stitz) Family as well as other information about birth places etc.
Thank you so much for linking the family members. I am so appreciative.
