Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been Married for over 20 years to my husband John Marble, we have 3 beautiful children and one grandchild. I was born in key west Florida and raised in Southern California. I am a stay at home mom and grandmother, our youngest daughter is graduating high school this June. Looking to find some information on my Saulmon side of the family. Even though my father James D Saulmon died when I was 2 I was always told stories of him and my mother saved all the letters he sent her while he was in Vietnam, I have alot of pics of him and also some things he sent my mom, that made me feel very close to him, I have always felt his presence of spirit while growing up and my children also know about their grandfather.

RE: Saulmon
My daughter and I got into looking up stones for people and love it. The weather has been pretty rotten here so we've curtailed our outings. We'll get back out there soon!

The name Marble is familiar to me. My aunt Pat in Iowa has nieces by marriage that were very nice gals. I like how you have your name hyphenated.....

Ancestry gets bigger every day I'm in it.

Take care-

RE: James D Saulmon
Hi Cindy-

There was an Indiana Saulmon that was a doctor and he wrote to my Dad saying he thought we were related. My Dad said he never wrote back but with no reason. I personally think all the Saulmons are related in some branch or root. I'm only getting into the 1700s but I'm fleshing out ALL the family members. I'm anxious to see how many I do find.

You asked why someone would not have a date for their death.... the only reasons would be a stone is set for the husband, and his wife's name is added to the stone with a birth. The death date waits till the wife has died. Also in this case, sometimes the wife remarries and is burried with the new husband.

Another reason is the birth date is listed then states the person lived so many years, months and years. You have to count then. Sometimes the death is listed and you have to count again to figure out what the birth date was. is fun. I could be here all day!

Florida :-)
With you being born in Florida, I'd say our chances of being related just increased.

RE: James D Saulmon
We may be related! I am just getting in to Ancestry and have our roots back to George Saulmon who was my GGG GrandFatherHis son,James Alexander Saulmon was my GG GrandFather,James had William Washington Saulmon who was my G GrandFather. My Grandfather was Edgar Conley Saulmon and his son, William Jackson Saulmon was my father.

James also had Millard and Malone who my father said he remembered when he was real young
and both of them disappeared. The rest of the family didn't know where they went and never heard from them again.I found where they were buried in Andalusa Alabama. Eli Saulmon is listed as George's father but I haven't found any facts to back it up. There is an Eli listed in Virgina and a couple listed in Indiana.

Our Saulmon name is not quite as common as some... There are a bunch in Indiana, and a few in Alabama, Texas, Colorado, California, Virginia and a couple in New York, Canada, and a peppering in Germany, France etc.

I am glad you have the passion to search. Perhaps we will bump into each other again. I truly wish you the best of luck.
