RE: Brooks family in Middletown
Hi there,
I have noticed that before and see little resemblance to the headstone.. need to take another photo - I was just looking at David Brooks obit from the Lake County Bee - do you have that one? Thought it was so strange that they list all the children but only mention his wife as "his widow" and not by name... his daughter Cora Herrick was very involved with the Native Daughters and I have numerous pictures of her and a lot of her writing; I didn't realize she was L.T.'s sister-in-law... of course the more history of Middletown I see - the more relatives are uncovered.... chow Judy

RE: Ardeva
You are very welcome. What I do is a labor of love. I also put out a photo request since I know I won't be able to get up there any time soon. Thanks for letting me know.

Adams Family
Hi Beverly, your family members have been transferred to you. Nothing makes me happier when family finds their loved ones. They are now in the hands they belong with.

I was just their caretaker..

RE: Adams Grave at Middletown
Just looked up Eversole Mortuary - they are still in Ukiah, CA - which is approximately 1 hour and 15 mins from us - they have been in business since 1893 - I think you can contact them through the website... this is too cool.

RE: Adams Grave at Middletown
Hi again, There is no longer a Eversole Mortuary
in Lake County but I will also try to find any info on this - could have been a merger, etc.

RE: Adams Grave at Middletown
Beverly, This is so exciting. This grave site has to be your Great Grandfather. The chances of there being 2 Adams from the Civil War buried in this small Evergreen (section) in Middletown - I think is remote.
In answer to your question about the section, plot, etc. - That information is recorded from the Middletown Cemetery records. I will find out the origin when I do my research. I have recently become a board member of the cemetery district - so I will avail myself of any information that is there and pass it on to you.
Would there be a chance you might forward any documentation regarding your Grandfather's civil war time? I know DL would be so happy to add this info to the Lake County Civil War veterans files. He has done an outstanding job and is capturing as much information as possible.
We will be in touch.
Regards, Judy

RE: Adams Grave at Middletown
Hi Beverly,
I apologize for the confusion regarding this grave site. It will require much more research.A member of our genealogy group is profiling all Lake County civil war veterans. He has Mr. Adams listed as "L.J.". The Middletown cemetery listing for Civil War veterans has listed Mr. Adams as "L.J." but someone marked though it and entered a "G.T.". There are several "Adams" family graves in Middletown, but your info regarding your family member could perhaps be a method to verify the true identity. I will be out of the area for six weeks but will follow-up on this entry when I return. I will also try to locate his daughters site.. Please bear with me while I do some more digging.... Do you have any reason to believe that your great grandfather was a civil war veteran? This is the basis for the orignal entry...Regards Judy
