RE: Arcadia , Fl.
Yes, Tom, I was born in Arcadia in 1966 when most of my family was still living there. My grandparents (Halley & Cola Lewis) then moved to Tallahassee when he went to work for the Attorney General, and my parents followed them up here. Your friend, my Uncle John, is currently an attorney in Fort Myers:

Frank G Wittbecker
My GGGrandfather was Fredrick Emil Wittbecker of Freeport, Il brother to Wilhelm August Wittbecker B.29 Apr 1857 in Schlangen, Lippe~Detmold, Germany and eight other siblings whose father was Johann Friedrich Klaus Wittbecker. Wilhelm was the only one that moved from Freeport. Was surprised to read that Johann Friedrich Klaus Wittbecker was a tin smith, was listed as a farmer on the ship records.

More on David & Washington Brown
I just found mention of David M. and Washington Brown in CC Davenport's Looking Backwards - A Memoir of Morehouse Parish which was written at the turn of the century. I'll get a copy out in the mail to you.

Alex Brown, David Sims & David Sims Brown
Hello Tom
Happy to transfer to you Alex Brown, David M. Brown and Washington Brown.

I've looked through the indexes of both volumes of Known Burials of Morehouse Parish and have NOT found David Sims or David Sims Brown. Or anyone with those initials. I find no Herrings, either.

I've made a site for every Sims listed in Known Burials since I'm kin in a round about way, too.

You might be interested in getting a copy of Rebecca DeArmond-Huskey's "Bartholomew's Song: A Bayou Heritage" from www.HeritageBooks.com. I see some Browns, Herrings and Sims listed in it - although none that you have mentioned. I've found many clues in it. Frankly, it will take me months if not years to get through this book.

I don't yet have any burial history from the surrounding parishes.

From what I understand, many markers and records for the Old Bastrop Cemetery have been destroyed. Slowly the newspaper obits of Morehouse Parish are being worked on by a gal named Lora Peppers at the Ouachita Parish Library. I hope Lora eventually finds something for all of us.

Will happily look for anyone else for you.

Hi Tom. Since Jennie and her son are related to you, I've transferred their memorials to you. I believe Family should be with Family.

Have a nice weekend...Bea.
