|2014: I'm working to photograph and enter stones in the Hilltop Cemetery in Mendham, NJ. If you'd like stones transferred to you just let me know. There is also a 1926 Cemetery Directory in the paper files of the NJ genealogy section of Morris County Library that current has some names that aren't yet in the database. Some of the older stones either don't exist, aren't readable, or are under cover of grass.|

Sarah Decker married first Stephen Hunt and had Mary Hunt. Stephen Hunt died in 1875, and Sarah Hunt married William H. Roff in 1877. They had Florence, George W., and Henrietta Roff. Mary M. Hunt was my grandfather's half-sister.

Mary Alice Phoenix is my first great grandmother
she was born 26 June 1859 and died 19 Mar 1897 she
was my grandfather Frank Van Dorn Deans mother. My grandfather always told us their name was spelled Van Dorn. My mother said his name was spelled wrong on his headstone, and they were going to correct that but it never happened. I want to thank you very much for taking a lot of my famiys grave pictures, there were many I did not have. They are Clark, Phoenix, Dean, Van Liew and more.

Thank you for looking for Elizabeth (my 5g-grandmother). I sent a message to the person who input her memorial, asking where the info came from that Elizabeth was buried there. Hope to hear from her. The sources I have do not include her death date or cemetery.

You are very welcome. Sorry it took so long. But the cemetery still had about 4 inches of snow last week.

Thank you so much for his tombstone photo :)

Thank you for the note about Maurice Garabrant Jr. The descendants of Katherine (Quimby) Garabrant are distant cousins of our family. I did not notice Maurice Jr. until I got the card for the cemetery plot (North, 2) a few weeks ago. I did not get around to creating the memorial.
Your photographs of the tomb stones in the cemetery are wonderful and so helpful for checking dates and names for research. Also for Maurice Garabrant Sr., I did not fully appreciate the detail carved on his tomb stone until I was able to enlarge the image on my computer screen.
I notice the percent of Hilltop Cemetery that is photographed is increasing. Good luck with the project.
