|Ed Patton||RE: Hello|
I am glad someone is trying to find out about them. They both lost their lives in the War Of Northern Aggression. William died at the battle of Malvern Hill. He was a First Lt. at the time. He never married. James died from disease contracted in the Confederate Army. He never married either. James was a corporal at the time of his death. They both are mentioned on the old marker leading into the original gate of the University of Georgia. Their father went to get one or both of their bodies in a buckboard. Hard to imagine. They had a half sister Matilda Griffeth Cooper. She married by Great Great Grandfather Thomas Cooper. In the 1958 W.H. Manning and Edna Anderson Manning spent their life publishing a book called "Our Kin". It is an exhaustive research. The two brothers are on page 1307. I scanned that page some time ago. Someone in the Griffeth family must have that photo. Hope this helps.
