Most of the Cemeteries in Holmes County have not been photographed yet. I don't get that way often, but have done some in that county. Am now working close to home due to the weather condictions. Will keep a eye open for him. I could not find anything from my sources. | | | Tom Reece

It's nice to hear from you! Yeah, James Lacy Martin (1818-1906) was my 4 greats grandpa also. He was originally from South Carolina. His mother was Lucinda Mary Lacey (Mar 1791 - 28 Dec 1870)and I think that her parents were William Lacey, born in 1765 and Elizabeth Eddington, born in 1770. I don't know anything about his Dad or the other Martins further back.
James married Mary Evans, born in 1825 (my 4 greats grandma). She was the daughter of Jacob Evans (1797-Mar 1878) and Martha Ogle (1807-1885). They lived in the Glades near Gatlinburg. Jacob's parents were Richard Evans and Catherine McCarter and Martha's parents were Thomas J. Ogle (1784-1862) and Sophia Bosley (1789-13 Jul 1857).
Richard Evans' father was William Evans from Wales and Catherine's parents were Moses and Catren Bates McCarter of Scotland. Thomas Ogle's parents were William Ogle (19 Oct 1756 - 5 Mar 1803) and Martha Huskey (9 Dec 1756 - July 1826). Sophia's parents were James Bosley (1742-1846) and Ann Gott (1756-1833).
I'm not sure if I've told you anything that you didn't already know, but I hope this helps some. James L. Martin's daughter, Mary Martin, was my 3 greats grandma. She married Caleb Trentham in 1861. If you could tell me more about James Martin's father I would appreciate it.
