Susan Elizabeth's mother
Hi Elizabeth,

In my granny's handwritten notes, she wrote that Elizabeth A. Florence(Susan's mom) had half a hog that she hid under her mattress. She pretended to be sick when the union solders came to keep them from taking it. She also wrote about Elizabeth A.'s parents but there are no burial records that I can find so far. Still searching. I'm considering joining also. I'm just not sure if it is worth the money. I've got more information about Susan's father that granny hand wrote also. She wrote that all the Huff family sang sacred heart music.

RE: Susan Elizabeth Wood
I finally got the family tree that my granny wrote out. I am going to work at putting it together here on findagrave. It goes way back. I hope some of the other graves are listed here.

RE: Susan Elizabeth Wood
Lillie Ann Moore Wood is buried in Hopewell Cemetery in Hanceville, AL. She is buried beside her brother Henry Moore. There was a younger sister May as well, but I haven't found any information yet, other than a picture that my granny (Lillie Louise Wood) left. I've got to get her family tree this weekend. If you go to Thomas Malon's grave page, you can click on Lillie Ann Moore Wood's grave and see her page. I have a picture of her that I will post later. I posted one on grandaddy (Thomas Malon) from 1903.

RE: Susan Elizabeth Wood
My great grandmother (Thomas Malon's 3rd wife) was Lillie Ann Moore Wood. I'm not sure about any Gray's. After doing some research, I found that the Absher surname is on my great grandmother's (Lillie Ann) and not Thomas Malon's. I didn't know that Susan's maiden name was Huff. I will have to try to trace that back sometime. It is so interesting to me. I'm going to try to get up to my mom's house and get the family tree that my granny (Louise Wood Holloway) left. I can't wait to share with my mom that there is another cousin who was named after Granny Wood and to explain who! It's very exciting! Thank you for getting back to me.

Susan Elizabeth Wood
Hi Elizabeth,

I am Elizabeth Susan too I was named after Mrs. Wood also, my grandmother was Lillie Louise Wood, her father was Thomas Malon Wood and his mother Susan Elizabeth. That makes her my great-great grandmother. Wasn't her maiden name Absher? Do I have that correct? My grandmother (Louise), just passed in January of this year and it has been extremely hard on me. She has a family tree that she drew out but I haven't looked it over. Anyway, I thought I'd share with you that I too was named after her. My mother is Carolyn Sue Holloway (Teele)- she is the daughter of Lillie Louise Wood (Holloway) & Raymond Reed Holloway.

Mattie Leathers Pope
Hi Elizabeth,

I saw that you left flowers for Mattie Leathers Pope. We've always corresponded on Barnett, but never Leathers as I recall. I assume from the flowers that you have a connection.

I descend from Mattie's aunt, Nancy Leathers McBrayer, through her daughter, Susannah McBrayer Waldrop. Susannah died not long after her family moved from Haralson Co GA to Cullman Co AL. Her son, my great grandfather, told me she died of a brain hemorrhage. Her memorial # is 68365084.

Best regards,
