Martha Munson
Just reread the Munson Record for this family. Seems to say Timothy moved out of New Milford in 1774, so still cannot say where daughter Martha was born. Certainly most of her older siblings were likely to have been born in New Milford.

John Stanton Sr
Have just added John Stanton (Sr.) to the Pownal Center yard per your advice. Would be happy to transfer him to you also.

Stantons in Onandaga Co NY
Ann has transferred about 9 Stantons from the Stanton yard in Spafford NY to me. She is apparently unrelated. The memorials include Mary Sherman Stanton, who I presume is your distant grandmother. Although I notice you don't seem to keep memorials, would you like me to send these to you? As an interested descendant, they would be better in your hands than mine. I am interested in Mary's maiden name. My Pownal family came from New Fairfield CT, in a portion of the town now renamed as Sherman CT. Of course the famous Sherman signed the Dec. of Ind. Is Mary of this line?

Martha "Patty" Munson
I have 29 Oct 1777. New Milford is very possible as her birthplace, but I have no proof that is right. The family lived in Newtown CT, the same place with the tragedy last year. This is where they lived prior to coming to VT. HOwever, their daughter Sarah (my ancestor) married a man from New Milford, so it is possible. I have not done the deed work for Timothy, so cannot say. Most of my data comes from The Munson Record, along with vital records and as many primary sources as I can get. Don't trust websites.

Also, birthdate for Timothy, presumptively New Haven CT, is 12 July 1734, Good pension data here with birthdates.

Clarissa Stanton Whipple b. 1799 is in the same cemetery as her parents. Electa Stanton Merchant b 1797 d. 1881. She is buried in Burnt Hills NY, # 84875067. Have not gone farther with the children.

Capt John Stanton
Thank you for your interest in the Pownal Stantons. I adopted Capt John Stanton because his wife Patty Munson is a distant aunt of mine. Their daughter Clarissa is in the same cemetery in North Pownal.

Upon reviewing the memorial, I found someone named Ann had engrafted Mary Shearson Stanton onto Capt John as his wife, not his mother. Imagine my surprise, since it is only Patty I am interested in. I have emailed her asking her to delete that marriage. Hope she will, because I can't.

I well know where the town clerk;s office is, as I have been related to most of the town clerks of Pownal for the last 250 years. The current one is my second cousin.

Would you like Capt John transferred to you once Ann makes the correction?

Vernon and Thomas Keoppel
Hi Penny,
Thank you for trying to find Vernon. His Obituary says he was buried there. However Thomas B Keoppel was his brother and my Uncle also. Did not know he was buried there. Can you take a picture of Thomas' headstone? Or do I have to put in a separate request on Finda Grave?

Guess I will add to my virtual cemetery and but in the request as well.

thanks again. Terrie
