Photo of Wolfe's Angel. At one time this marble statue stood outside the Ashevile Shop of W.O. Wolfe inspiring the title for son Thomas Wolfe's book 'Look Homeward Angel.'|
I live in Buncombe Co., NC and have been doing family research for about 25 years. My lines are Sorrells & Sales. I especially enjoy taking tombstone pictures and knowing I am preserving a part of the past. I have to use a backpack of oxygen to help me get through the cemeterys. (Renal & lung cancer survivor.) I will continue on until it becomes impossible.
I do post death certificates. This is my way of 'sourcing' my memorials They can be rich in facts. but be cautious as they can also have wrong dates and information. Most that I find are correct but always be your own researcher.
And please don't be one of the folks who sit at their computers and add a name and birth and death year from some compiled records. Get out, take pictures, be active in the cemetery. When you see cemeteries that are only 50% photographed with a couple of hundreds stones you wonder why they only did half the job.
I strongly feel it is as important to know where we came from yesterday as well as where we are going tomorrow. There arn't any restrictions on these photos, only it used commercially.
And please, if you find wrong information, don't hesitate to let me know.
Blessings to you in your research and life.

I'm not one to moan and groan about D/C's and as long as I can add an obit to the Bio section I am good. Those scanned obits placed in the photo section are against the guidelines, but people do it all day long. I have seen administrators remove them from memorials though.
I'm adding pics now, but I stopped to look into this White family. John Calvin White that died in 1983 may be the grandson of John Calvin White, cause I am seeing that on a tree. (Trees can be useful, and can be useless too.) Back to you shortly.

Not to worry Molly, I will help do what I can to figure this out. No use to go to Paint Fork either, cause I wore out my knees and my back up there yesterday. Everything in the cemetery, except for the field stones w/o names has now been photographed.
Thank you for your understanding and I wish you a very Merry Christmas too!

Thank you so much for checking on him!! He has been in his garden a lot this past bit, and tinkering more outside than on his computer. If he hasn't responded ( sorry I am slow to respond I've been in the process of leaving my current job) I will tell him to check it out.
Thanks again for checking on him that is so kind of you!!

Molly thanks so much for trying to find this one. I am just going to leave him as is. The death certificate shows Berea, but you know how that can be. Again, thanks so much. Hope you are doing ok?

Can you please delete your photos on the memorials of Robert Seymour Creasman
and his wife Mary J. Allison Creasman
The memorials were originally placed in Berea which was the incorrect cemetery. They have been moved into Bethel, the correct cemetery, and there is a stone for them there.

Hi again Molly, I have sent message to Paula to delete memorial for Mary L Keasler and I deleted Williams. Just wanted to note what a grand job you have done on this cemetery. It is NOT easy to document an entire cemetery. Thanks again!

Nannie Keasler Creasman, husband and children are buried in Lewis Cemetery. They are not related to the Creasmans at Berea Cem that
I know. These were friends of our families in the N Asheville community of Beaverdam. Please let me know.
