It is an honor to be a part of this community to help others find family and friends, as I have been doing for myself. I have been trying to research my family history for a couple of years and happened to stumble upon this site and think it is a terrific outlet to help others in their search.

My family owned a memorial company in Sylacauga, AL, for about 30 years and have made and set many memorials and markers in many cemeteries in central Alabama. Therefore, I am familiar with many cemeteries in this area. I know the importance of memorializing a loved one and keeping precious memories with you for a lifetime and passing them down to generations. I feel it an honor to help others in doing so. Don't hesitate to send a request directly if you feel I may be able to help you.

RE: Doris Cleckler
Daryl,

Thank you for the offer to take any photos for me in your area.

I am sorry I meant to say Gracie not Doris. I am transferring Gracie to you since she is your aunt so you can manage her memorial and to add any additional information you would like to add.

RE: Guilford Strickland
Daryl,
I will check into the John Strickland. I have heard that her 1st husband Nobles was killed in the war of 1812. he is also my ancestor. You see my great grand parents were 1/2 cousins way back.
She was Susan Delilah Carden daughter of Mavel Agnes Strickland who was the daughter of Guilford and Elizabeth. He was Henry Thomas Nobles whose great grandfather was Jesse Nobles 1/2 brother to Guilford. She says on a questionare from 1950 that I have somewhere that her grandfather named her after his 1/2 sister Susan Strickland. When I find it I will scan it in for you. The Carden and Stricklands are buried side by side at New Salem cemetery. The rest of the cemetery is mostly my fathers family - Bean. So my mother's family and my father's knew each other way back then. later,
Connie

RE: Guilford Strickland
Daryl,
He may have been born in Laurens County, Ga. He married Rhoda Davis 1st and they are listed in the 1850 Muscogee, GA. He married Elizabeth Guthrie 2nd in Tallapoosa, AL. His mother is supposed to be Elizabeth Adams Nobles Strickland and father Philip Strickland. I can not find any facts on any of this, such as a marriage record for Elizabeth and Philip. His 1/2 brother Jesse Nobles was living next door in 1850 and they all came to Alabama about 1852. Guilford was my ggg.
I will let you know if I come across anything else.
