RE: Pringle
Hi Karen,
Good to hear from you. Capt. Samuel Pringle's daughter married John Howes. I am from that line. I am not from WV but my grandfather Oscar Howes grew up there in Upshur County. My mother was born a couple of weeks after the stock market crash of 1929 and after that her parents who were then living in Michigan moved back to WV to live on one of the family farms. I live in L.A. which is where I was born. The family moved here just before I was born.
I would love some help joining DAR. Thank God for Ancestry.com, it made my research a lot easier. I knew from stories from my Mom that we had an ancestor that pioneered the West Virginia territory. I also knew from my grandfather that the Howes line went back to 1637. If it works out for me, I plan to attend the Howes Family Reunion in Plymouth next year. There is also a Howes Reunion every year in WV. I have only been there once in my life when I was 11. I'd really like to go back.
Yes, let's keep in touch. My email is kse4040@hotmail.com. Phone 818-635-5419.
Nice to meet you cousin!

Hello cousin,
I am also a decedent of Samuel Pringle. My family stayed in the same area of WV until my grandfather Oscar Howes moved out west in the 1960s.
I joined Ancestry.com early this year and have been exploring my roots. I'll be looking into joining DAR next year. This is the 2nd revolutionary hero I have found in my line.

Good luck on your ancestory quest. I'm lucky because I did get information before my loved ones passed on. I have stories and pictures of Alibatus and on down my line. I was hoping to find a picture of Amos Chaney or Melvina; but you know what, pictures of them probably don't even exist. Take care, Karen!

Well, we share Samuel, William and Amos Chaney, then your family goes through Edward and mine goes through his 4-year younger brother Alibatus D. Tabner Pringle. I would love to share info., photos, stories, etc. Please e-mail me.

Just saw the note you left on Capt. Samuel Pringle's memorial. He was my 3rd great grandfather. Seems we both have a lot of roots in Upshur County, WV!

Good afternoon, Karen!

Thank you so much for writing and this is a wonderful site with so many nice people. And yes, it is very sad to realize that some of the loved ones have no memorial stone to mark their final resting place.

Every time I leave memorial flowers on this site or even visiting a cemetery, always wonder about the people who once lived.

Wishing you best wishes in your search for your family ancestors, Karen.

Karen,
Thank you so much for contributing the picture of James K. Wayt & Susan Catherine (Bean) Wayt. They, too, are my great-great grandparents. Their youngest daughter Della Myrtle Wayt is my great grandmother.
Would love to compare notes with you regarding the common ancestors.
Best regards,
Marie

Good afternoon, Karen!

Thank you for taking the time to write the personal message regarding your great-great grandmother.

When I searched for the memorial records see exactly what you mean in regards to your concern about the name Cutright. Perhaps the person who added the memorial (which would be located on the bottom left side of the memorial) would be able to correct the last name.

My father (McIntee) was born and raised in Morgantown, West Virginia. Though am no relation to your family (that I am aware of), just wanted to leave a memorial flower in your family's memory.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to drop me a public message, Karen. Welcome to Find Grave!
