Genealogy research has long been a passion of mine (at least since 1978 or thereabouts). When I retired in 2002 after 31 years of service with a major Texas police department, GENEALOGY was close to the top of my retirement bucket list. Now working again, I'm involved in property management and development (we take old, usually vacant, downtown bldgs and restore them turning them into something useful while maintaining their historical integrity), but I still make time to dabble in genealogy.

A latecomer to Find A Grave, I joined in 2011 and I've enjoyed it ever since. The exercise I get from walking cemeteries and the sense of fulfillment I recieve from responses to the photos are both priceless.

With the exception of members of our immediate family, I am willing to transfer memorials in response to requests conforming to F.A.G. policy. I am human and make mistakes; if you note an error on one of my memorials or spot a duplicate, please notify me immediately and I'll take corrective action accordingly.

Loretta "Rettie" Pierce Alexander
I'm getting the same answer as you from folks trying to find a gravestone for her in the Johnson City Highland Cemetery. It does seem logical that since she spent most of her life in Johnson City that she would be buried there. Her sister "Addie" [Mrs. J.B. Worley on her death certificate] also lived in Johnson City, but the Worley clan are buried in Oak Hill Cemetery in Johnson City.Rettie's mother Mary, her brother, Stant and sister Virginia are all buried in the Highland Cemetery in Elizabethton where she was born. I have managed to get two of Rettie's children's memorials connected to hers. I just found her at age 63 in the 1920 census living with her husband Wilber Alexander in Greene County. Living right next door are James William Douthat and wife Barbara Elizabeth Bible. William was the grandson of James Pierce and Carmaline Wilcox.Best regards, Dale

I believe that the Highland Cemetery that she's in is the Carter County one - she is not at Highland Church of Christ in Hales Chapel (Wash Cty). Loretta's mother is in the Carter County one, so would seem logical. I don't do surveying in Carter County, so I don't have those records. Hope this helps. Thanks, Gordon

I entered a photo of Mary Underhill Cushman’s headstone in the Needhamville Cemetery in Fort Ann, NY. It was taken about 1974or1975.

Henry McElroy Parker (San Jacinto Memroial)
I have uploaded a picture of Henry's marker to his memorial page. Elizabeth Tommie Hill Parker was next to him. I did not find a memorial page for her. When I replied to your last email with copies of the pictures it was returned. If you send me a current email address I'll be glad to send you all the pictures.

Sorry for your loss! I assume the dates will be changed to indicate your mothers death. I will check for new engraving in a few weeks and update with a current photo. Can you tell me which section she is located. If I recall this is a very large cemetery.

Parker Headstones @ Southland Memorial
Hi Johnny: I have uploaded the pictures you requested and a couple more that weren't on your list but didn't have pictures. I have all of these people linked together on billiongraves.com. Would you let me know if they are not all related please?

You had requested a picture for Henry Parker at San Jacinto Memorial in Houston. Do you have any information regarding the section he is in? I'll be just a few miles from there in December and would be happy to go by. Sometimes the office is very helpful and ask only for the name of the deceased and other times they want the month, day and year of death. If you send that info to me I should be able to find his grave.

Melany

Lieut Lois M Mauldin-Clarksville
Here in Paris, Lamar County, Texas, we are building a Veterans Memorial to honor those from this area who served in the military (See Red River Valley Veterans Memorial www.rrvvmcom). I would like to request your permission to use the headstone marker you have posted for Lt. Mauldin as a part of his bio on our webpage. We would like to use it without your tag on it, but would give you credit in the section of the webpage where we thank those who have helped with this project. Please consider joining us in honoring the young men from this area.
