Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a retired U.S. Marine Staff Sergeant living in Kenmore, NY. My interest in Find A Grave was prompted by research into my father's WW II service. He was a Marine serving onboard the USS Nashville CL-43 who was wounded on December 13, 1944 when a Kamikaze struck the ship killing or wounding 38 of 41 Marines in the Marine Detachment. I have been working on locating the graves of the Marines killed or mortally wounded that day.
I have expanded my task to include the graves of the soldiers and sailors killed or mortally wounded on the USS Nashville that day.

RE: Chief Eugene H. Burklow
It was published in The Evansville Courier and Press, Evansville, IN dated September 2, 1948.

There wasn't anything about the lapse of time between the death and the retrieval of the body so I don't know if they had to excavate the ship or what.

I reran the query several times and the year still came up as 1948 for the newspaper article.

Hi Rodney
Well .... this is embarrassing. I edited the post on Mr. Grisham's memorial and then I noticed that the post I added was already added by you in the "Leave a flower" section. Kindly advise me on how you want this handled. I could delete the entire note I added to avoid redundancy. Let me know what you think is best.

I absolutely agree with you, Rodney! I wish I could remember where Mr. Jackson's plot is located. I'm sorry I was not able to.

All my best wishes for the work you are doing!

RE: S2c Guy G. Jackson
I am so sorry that I cannot remember exactly where Mr. Jackson's gravesite is located out at Coldsprings Cemetery in Garrison. I was out there a few years back fulfilling photo requests and tried to enter other burials that had not been listed at the time. Thank you for adding more information to help his memorial be more accurate. Would you like his memorial transferred to you? I am of no relation to Mr. Jackson and am willing to transfer to anyone related or who was a loved one to him.

I am not related to the family we just photograph headstones and post them usually in order they are laying in the cemetery. You didn't say which cemetery and we have completed several but either way I would not be able to tell you.

RE: Seaman 2c Roy Eugene Mc Gee

Thank you so much for your nice message. I wish you great success in your research. Unfortunately, I cannot find John M. Breashears in my tree or Find A Grave. I have not checked ancestry, but will if you will confirm the spelling. Find A Grave only searches on exact spellings, so that is hard if we have a misspelling. I have found about 35 spellings of my maiden name. Let's move this conversation to email. You can reach me at If you have a copy of the request for the headstone, that would be a wonderful document for you to attach to the email and I can use it to search for him. I can have him misspelled on my file too, but if I start with an official document that will definitely help. Also, the name of the cemetery will help too. I look forward to hearing from you. I should be able to help you more after I hear from you.
