Thank you so much, Tommy is back with his family.
|Marsha||Valentine H. Smith|
I just noticed you left a message on Laura Marvels F.A.G. page about Valentine. I am researching his family because I think he was my great great grandfather's brother. My GG grandfather was James Monroe Smith born 1833/34 in IL. A cousin just gave me a family tree that has his brothers as Valentine and Bill (she said both lived in Hopkins Co., TX). I found Valentine in the census records so that part seems to be pretty accurate. I'm not sure who created this family tree as all of the older generations are gone now. I am hoping it is accurate. I have a Y-DNA test result (only about 12-25 markers so not the top of the line test but still would indicate relation) from a great grandson of James Monroe Smith. If anyone in your Smith family has done a DNA test we could compare to see if the results are similar. I was wondering if you had any info about Valentine's parents and other brothers and sisters? I am thinking that Bill in this family tree is actually William Walton Smith who also lived in Hopkins County, TX. I can send you an Ancestry.com family tree I created of what I know about James Monroe Smith to see if you find anything familiar--send me your email address and I'll either invite you to my Smith family tree page or send you an attachment of the page. I am hoping we can compare notes and find some similarities in family names and places.
Looking forward to hearing back from you!
