Donald Phipps
Good Morning,
We just returned from West Laurel Hill Cemetery in Phiadelphia, Pa, where the office confirmed that Donald's remains were removed to Washington Memorial Church in Valley Forge, Pa on June 21, 1924. Good luck with your research. Pat

You are so welcome, Peter! I could not resist finding out about Carruthers Field and the fliers of that day; that locale being so near to me, after seeing it in the articles you found about Mr. Phipps. I'm always interested in WWI & WWII stories of our men and women in uniform. Wow! What an awesome research journey on which you embarked to solve the mystery! Even tiny Genealogical pieces begin to fit together to produce a complete picture. I was intrigued that your Aunt Rachel never married...Donald truly must have been the "love of her life" one else could ever match him. (My parents felt that way about each other.) Of course, the whole story is sad, and my heart truly went out to his boating buddy as well, not being able to save his dear friend. Also interesting was the fact that Mrs. Roosevelt came to comfort his folks. Do you have the photo of Donald that Rachel kept by her beside? The portrait of her bedroom is wonderful...and the picture of the two of you embracing on her last visit to the Farm. Much success in all of your diligent family research! Glad I could help a little! Thanks, Peter for the wonderful photo of Rachel on her Memorial Page. She was such an outstanding and contributory person in her community. I just read about her engagement to Donald Amos Phipps and the articles about his untimely demise at such a young age. It was interesting to note that he was stationed in Texas in 1918 at the U.S. Army Air Force Carruthers Field during WWI. Benbrook and Fort Worth are not that far from me in Dallas. There is a photo of Air Cadets in front of an airplane at that field in 1918 at He might be one of them. Your Family Tree is such a grand example of a great deal of diligent research on your part, and it is so very interesting to read about your family! Blessings to you and yours! Janet in Texas. Oakwood- Rhodes
I took photos of Urias and Richard Rhodes along with spouses and some children. There are also some Clarys and Schyvers. Fairly recent deaths.

I got the picture you requested for Smith Bedell in L.I.N.C. He's buried next to William Bedell who also was in Co. E. 127 N.Y. Infantry. Are you aware of a relative who may have served with him? I added a picture of William's stone to his existing memorial.
Have a good one...

RE: John Layton Headstone photo
You are very welcome. I am always happy to help. I also added photos for his two wives, Sarah Platt and Mary Ann. There are many Layton/Laton family members there. I will add more photos soon.
Have a nice holiday!

RE: Elbert Griffin-Dean Monument
I am very happy to help. There are quite a few Deans at this cemetery. Griffin and Dean are old names out here on Long Island. Please free to contact me for help. If you would like to manage any of the memorials yourself just let me know and I will transfer them.
