Thomas de Grey
Your enquiry about Thomas Astley, who was the eldest son of Elizabeth Woodville.

There were chapels at Astley with tombs of the Grey family. When the Collegiate Church of St Mary the Virgin was disestablished in 1545 it reverted to the Henry Grey, Duke of Suffolk. The church fell into a state of disrepair over the ensuing years.

The Chamberlayne family were granted the estate by the Crown in 1559 but did nothing to maintain the church until the tower was rebuilt in 1607 and a chancel was added using some stone from the chapels. All that remained of the 1343 church was the quire. A tomb was removed in order to place the 14th century choir stalls in their present position. This became evident when work was carried out on the church in 1952.

When Dugdale visited the church he saw 9 effigies stacked in an outhouse. We now have just 3 effigies, which were placed in their present position at the beginning of the 20th century. One of them is thought to represent Cicely Bonville who was married to Thomas Grey.

THE ABOVE IS A REPLY I HAD TO AN EMAIL TO THE CHURCH WARDEN - REGARDS, GREG

Williams Cemetery
Two years ago I made a very thorough search for the Williams Cemetery. I went to the exact spot indicated on the map and searched a wide area around it in all directions and found no evidence of a cemetery or even a single grave.

Williams Cemetary, Covington CTY
I live a couple of miles from the "location". I have never noticed this cemetary but will attempt pictures if it can be found.

RE: Haddock Family Cemetery
I am not related at all. I live in Cohutta and I was bored this week. I have one more person in our town to ask Sunday at church. She is 93 and sharp as a tack. My gut feeling is that I've hit a brick wall, but I have put in 2 days of effort. I've got to ride across the highway and do some looking around in an area someone told me about. With the cemetery not being marked and the graves not being marked, I may have just about run the course. At least I have tried. I will let you know more in a few days.

Haddock Family Cemetery
Charla: This morning (06/09/2014) I went to talk to Don Henderson, the former Mayor of Cohutta for about 130 years. He told me that there might be a Haddock Cemetery off of Haddock Lane, a road not far from Cohutta. There are two "old timers" that he knows of that still live around here. Roy Haddock and Hugh Haddock. Both men moved away years ago to work and in the last several years have moved back to this area. The land lot mentioned in the notes are not on file at our county courthouse. However, there is a land lot, off by only one digit, that is close by. I'm going to check that out the next time I'm in the area. The cemetery is not marked and the graves are not marked so I'm on an up hill battle.

Haddock Family Cemetery
Charla, did you ever get any additional information about the Haddock Family Cemetery? My name is Craig Burnes and I live in Cohutta. This morning I ask a friend, Ben Manis, if he knew where this cemetery was. He said no. Ben has lived in Cohutta all his life and is one of the fire people that responds to our medical and fire calls. The next person I'm going to ask is Don Henderson, the former Mayor of Cohutta. He and Moses are about the same age. I need any other info you might have.
