My name is Ellen Allmendinger. I am an avid cemetery visitor, as well as a historical researcher.
I have found that one of the best places to learn about people in an area is the cemeteries located within or nearby. The dates, stories, names all give clues as to what life was like in the area both in the past and the present.
I am blessed to have visited cemeteries in Yakima, other areas in Washington and Oregon state (and the Pacific Northwest), as well as Hawaii, Florida, Maryland and even recently thru out Scotland.
Every time I visit a cemetery I am amazed at the beauty of the stones and monuments, the history, the names of families and last but not least the history of the area.
I also enjoy updating Find A Grave when I have free time in order to help others learn of the area,as well as help to connect famimlies.
If you find I have entered a family member or need to revise my entries please let me know. I will be happy to transfer them to you!!!
"Cemeteries are like parks only filled with history. Stop, look around, read the names and dates. Your walking amid history. Respect it, enjoy it and learn from it. Those buried at cemeteries lived so that we can learn about the world both past and present!"
Cemeteries need to be treated with upmost respect. They are the resting places of families, friends and founders.
Research NOTES: Simmons Cemetery: There was once a cemetery located at approximately Fruitvale Blvd. & North 6th Avenue. The bodies have been relocted to Tahoma Cemetery, but I have added it to the site for informational purposes.

 | Thomas Hilgerth Alsbury Ellen - If you would like me to do maintenance for Thomas Hilgerth Alsbury, his wife Rosemond & the two children that you included (William H. & Richard S.)I would be glad to do so. He is my great great grandfather. I've added my great grandmother, Anna Ursula Alsbury Wood & fixed his other daughter, Elizabeth Jane Alsbury Myers. I still need to add two other sons. I would like to include the name of his first wife, mother of his children. I don't know her date of death, nor the cemetery where she is buried - wish I could find her. I believe it would be in Maryville, Nodaway, MO. I've been wondering how you happened to include their info?

 | Elam's Family in AFC Ellen - I've added as much as I can to Elam's family in the Abbott Cemetery - just returned from a visit there, and all of the family headstones are intact, thank heaven's (one of MY family's is destroyed.... sigh .. Would you like me to transfer these to you now? I'd be so happy to - you really should be managing your 'own' family, so let me know if that's something you'd like! Warmly - cousin Vicki | | | Victoria Camp
