Christina
Thanks for the response. Would you happen to know where Christina was buried? Last I saw her was in the 1880 KS census living with relatives in Owl Creek Woodson Cnty, KS. My Dad stumbled upon a marriage certificate of a possible marriage of Christina to a GARVER, can't remember his first name at this moment. This marriage would be after 1880 though I believe she died in 1892. Just hope you may know of a possible burial. I do know there are many Schreckengost tombstones throughout Armstrong County, seen many on my voyages throughout Clarion, Armstrong and Jefferson Counties. Have a great day! - Michael

Cornelius Servey
Good luck, I applied for it several years ago (New Castle, PA) and was denied? I am a DIRECT descendant of Cornelius??? Are you also related? Please let me know if you have any luck. Thanks for the message.

RE: Christian Shick III birthdate
Hi. I've re-checked the sources in my FTM files and have found the same...

4th great-grandfather, Samuel Shaffer, was baptized AND confirmed on 24 Apr 1802. And, as you know, nine (of 12) of his Schick half-siblings - Tobias, Barbara, Joseph, Jacob, Johannes, Elizabeth, Catharina, Sarah and Maria (4th great-grandmother through our Miller line) - were baptized on that same date. Christian Shick's entry IS missing from these records, but I do believe he was baptized and confirmed on the same date, like his half-brother, Samuel Shaffer.

I wish I had ready access to Shirey's book - but have only his publication listed as the source of birth date and confirmation date in my FTM files. And, if not for Clarence Shirey's stellar reputation as a family researcher, I might think this birth date to be suspect. The date does also appear on many LDS IGI and Ancestral File entries (but one must realize those are largely unverified by primary source data).

Christian's tombstone, unfortunately, was very hard to read. I will try and find the original photo I took 12 years ago (it is in one of my notebooks here, I'm sure), and see if I can decipher more of the inscription.

Thanks for writing.

RE: Mattheus Richert tombstone
I'm sorry, I don't live near the cemetery. I was on a trip getting photos of some of my relatives stones and took Mattheus's photo as I'm not sure whether he's an ancestor or not.

Usually local groups put the markers on the graves for Veterans and Memorial Days. I didn't get a photo of the marker. Only what you see. Sorry.

RE: Christian Shick III birthdate
Christian's Birth Date from his confirmation (24 Apr 1802) at Christ Lutheran Church, Upper Mount Bethel Twp., Northampton Co., PA. Additionally, listed in the book "Our Shaffer, Schick, Fuchs(Fox) Reimel, Farringer Forefathers and Foremothers", 1984, by Clarence R. Shirey (available at LDS Library). Hope this helps!
