I mainly am posting friends and relatives at this time but hope to have the time to expand to others such as when I come across burial records from an old church (St. Thomas in Ontario for example). I love to do research and especially love the story behind the people.

RE: Albert Hoffman
You're welcome. I don't remember either, but that's quite all right. I haven't done much family history lately. My husband's mother passed away and we found out we are having our first grandchild in July so I have had my mind elsewhere. I am going to try to get back into my research. Let me know if I can help any way. Debbie H.

I believe these may be the same people you are looking for. Not only are the birth dates nearly the same, so is the marriage date. Too many coincidences to not be the same, or so it seems.

Lorinda: Just wanted you to know I hadn't forgotten you. I tried calling the Mt. Vernon cemetery and the number I could find is no longer in service. Spoke to a funeral home and that was the number they were showing, so I have a call in to the Atchison Historical Museum, to see who has the records. That cemetery is so large, a person could not easily walk it to find a grave. So I will keep trying to find what I can about Albert. I went to Mary & Earl's grave at Mt. Moriah yesterday and was just wondering if you had the dates for Robert and Betty Virginia Hoffman. I have them and a picture of the headstone if you need it. Debbie

RE: 63600058 Mary Hoffman
Hi Lorinda: Mary Ann (Cox) Hoffman's parents were George Philip DOB 9/16/1859 & Eva Mae (Ashton) Cox DOB 3/2/1862. I have their info on find a grave. Their obits & pictures of headstones. They are buried in Mt. Vernon Cem in Atchison, KS. The info I have on Mary's son Albert Clell Hoffman is DOB 2/1918 and DOD 4/1918. I will call the cemetery tomorrow and see whether he too is buried in Mt. Vernon. I show Mary Ann's children as 1. Albert 2. Robert DOB 5/1919 3. Virgie Lee DOB 7/13/1923 and 4. Harriet Dob 6/27/1921. George Philip and Eva had 12 children: Florence, Horace, Susan Jane, Daisy, George King, Mary Ann, Harriet, Velda, Virgie Edith, Albert Clarence, Maude, and Bernice. George Philip's parents were George King Cox and Jane Lansly Cox. I have both on find a grave. They are buried in Wetmore, Nemaha county, KS. I have quite a bit of info on the other children and some obits. I would be glad to send you whatever you would like. I was planning on going to the cemetery Mt. Moriah tomorrow for pictures on my dad's side of the family and I will put a flower on Mary Ann's grave for you. Debbie

63600058 Mary Hoffman
Lorinda: I do not know that side of the family, but I have a book of the "Cox Family" and her obit was listed in it. My side of the family is from George King & Jane Lansly Cox, their son Harry Cox, who moved to Kansas City, KS in the early 1900's.

Mrs. Mary Ann "Anna" Hoffman, 79, Manhattan, died this morning in a Topeka hospital. She was a former Topekan but had been a Manhattan resident for more than 38 years. She was born March 23, 1893, near Goff. She moved to Atchison and on May 16, 1917, maried Earl J. Hoffman there. He died October 1966. She also was preceded in death by an infant son, Albert Clell Hoffman, who died in 1918. She was a member of the First Christian Church, the Whatsoever Class and Olive Branch Rebekah Lodge 128, all at Manhattan. She served as noble grand of the Rebekah Lodge in 1955-56.
Survivors include a son, Robert Earl Hoffman, 1534 Jewell; two daughters, Mrs. Virgie Lee Cowan, 2221 Market, and Harriet Ann Martin, Los Angelos, Calif.; a sister, Daisy Clark, Wichita; eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cowan-Edwards-Jorgensen Funeral Home at Manhattan with graveside services at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Moriah Cemetery, Kansas City. She will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home until noon Monday, and from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 8 a.m. until the time of service at the Manhattan funeral home.
