I have been researching my family tree, taking over the work that my dad started many years ago. My dad, the family patriarch, is the keeper of the family genealogy, old family stories/scandals and ancient family pictures. We've had a good time together talking about family history and sharing our discoveries.
Of course, everything is a never ending project. More grave sites of ancestors to find and record. I also try to pay it forward by creating memorials for other people's loved ones along the way, time permitting.
My direct lineal ancestry goes back to my 11th great grandparents, Edward and Mary Bosworth, who sailed from England to Boston, Massachusetts aboard the "Elizabeth Dorcas" in 1634. From there, I descend from their son Jonathan, then from his son Jonathan Bosworth, Jr., who was married to Hannah Howland, daughter of Mayflower passengers John Howland and Elizabeth Tilley. Then from their son Deacon David Bosworth of Halifax, to his son Nehemiah, his son John, and his son Benjamin.
My grandmother immigrated from County Cavan, Ireland in 1907, and came with her sister through Ellis Island, New York. The rest of their family came soon after, and some moved on to Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
My mother's side were all English, Irish, and Scottish immigrants to New Brunswick, Canada; Upland, Pennsylvania; and Natick, Mass.
Family surnames of interest: Bosworth, Gifford, Woodworth, Potter, Palmer, Wilbor, Wilcox, Dixon, Chadwick, Merrihew, Spooner, Taber, Sampson, Tomson, and Bryant. Also, Gilston, McCracken, Waters, Jackson, and Mahood.
I invite & encourage anyone to leave notes and flowers on the memorials here, if you so choose. Thank you!

"Your tombstone stands among the rest;
neglected and alone
The name and date are chiseled out
on polished, marbled stone
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn
You did not know that I'd exist
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
in flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
one hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
and come to visit you."

Q.~ Is it acceptable to add a memorial for someone who is still living?
A.~ Please try to avoid it. In general, we do not encourage adding memorials for individuals who are still living. Please do not add pre-need memorials from (1931-present) to Find A Grave. Memorials for individuals who are alive will be removed when requested (the exception being for 'famous' individuals who already have a burial location in place). You are always welcome to create a 'pre-need' memorial for yourself, if you would like, provided that you have a pre-need headstone already in place in a cemetery.

Thanks for the use of your photos. I am a descendant of John & Priscilla Alden. I am trying to find all of their descendants. Crazy, I know. I have found a lot of famous cousins. That's the fun of it. =)

Thanks so much for taking the photo of the Pettengill's headstone and adding it to their memorials. May I have permission to add it to my private family tree, with your recognition? I so appreciate what you are doing for all of us at Find a Grave. =)
Janet both photos you requested have been repositioned. Lees being the one from today

I just added a photo of Elizabeth that my Dad, her cousin, had. I noticed you had added one of her in her later years. Did you know her? I'm trying to find out if she had any children, who would be my second cousins. Thanks for the photo no matter what!
