Bio and Links
Bio Photo I've lived in Texas all my life, but my ancestors are from North Carolina and Indiana, with a smattering of Kentucky, Virginia, and New Jersey thrown in.

I'm researching Lieske, Foddrell, Mitchell, Duggins, Doan(e), Mitchell, Rodgers, Gilbert just to name a few.

Conway Dalton Gilbert Cemetery
Dear Devon: I've noticed where you took gravestone pictures of Conway-Dalton-Gilbert Cemetery in Patrick County, Va. Do you remember where this cemetery is located? I'm trying to find it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Devon,
Sarah was definitely Laben's mother. Though the details are hazy, I believe that Sarah gave birth to James M., George C., Vesta V., & Laben Vance from a first marriage, perhaps one that didn't last and she gave them her maiden name. All kinds of situations could be the reason.

She didn't marry George until much later. Lots of puzzles to solve. If only we could find their obits.

Let me know if I can be of further help.

RE: Abraham Walker
that was 5 years ago.

Katherine Holman
My good friends take care of the New Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Clark County, Indiana. They said they could not find Katherine Holman in New Chapel. There are several Holmans buried there but they were later in the 1800's. If she died in 1803 she would not have been buried over there because the first burial in New Chapel was 1812. My friend's 5th generation grandfather donated the land for the first log cabin church and that was 1801. I am sending you this message because somehow I deleted your request and just wanted to let you know that I tried to help you.

RE: C W Gilbert
I believe you are correct just from seeing both stones. I connected them.

RE: Gilbert Cemetery, Patrick VA

The dates on the stone are no longer legible, but I expect that the Robert Gilbert buried there is the one you identify. I'm often more careful than I need to be and didn't want to assume that that was him; for one thing, the stone looks older than 1905.

Thank you so much for this!
I will ask the person who added the memorial to put in the plot number. Maybe somebody can get me the picture now. Thank you thank you!!!
