RE: more about us Jones's. I am fifth generation Floridian. Me - Tampa,Fl.(A.F.B) L.E.Watts(father)Tampa,Fl. & G.A.Sellers (Mother)Lutz,Fl. F.C.Watts(gfather)Ky. & D.L.McMillion(gmother)Tampa,Fl. R.M.McMillion (Ggfather)Ga. & M.C.Jones(Ggmother)Pasco,Fl. M.Jones(2Ggfather)Ga. & M.A.Hancock(2Ggrandmother)Columbia,Fl.
My Jones,Hancock & McMillion were in Hillsbourgh Co.,Pinellas Co., Pasco Co., Hernando Co.,and Duval counties. From before Duval Co., they were in Georgia. A few before that were in South Carolina and Virginia/West Virginia.
Before D.L. McMillion(my fathers mother)passed, She told me a couple of short stories of the McMillion,Hancock and jones families. Apparently there was a feud between the all 3 of the families. She would tell me when she was younger, they would go out to a cemetery once a year (believed to be townsend house cemetery)and clean it up.There would be divided groups when doing that. A lot of them refused talk to each other.
When I went to the Cemetery several years go, I missed the turn. I wound up at a small country store and asked for directions to the cemetery. He asked me whom I was connected to in that cemetery and I told him the Jones and Hancocks. The man told me what street to look for and then disappeared into the back of the store. He wanted nothing to do with me.
If you would like to know more about my lines let me know and I will do what I can to get the information to you
Jones Family I have noticed your name is connected to alot of the jones listed here. I have also noticed that some of the Jones,in my family line, have no siblings, parents or spouses added to them. Is there any way that I could get that information added to their page??
RE: Lorraine was a Bennett when Interesting! I'll have to see what I can find out about the Bennett name. I may have a lead on who the little girls are. Lorraine only had one child, a son Richard (Dickie) who died when he was 5 or 6 but she had a best friend that she was always with who had two daughters. My husbands aunt suspects that they may be the little girls. Could you send me the picture? email@example.com
I will show it to the family and see if we can identify them.
Thanks so much! I will let you know if I find out any more info and would love to see anything else that you may have.
More info... I just read your memorial for Jackie Cail and realized that Lorraine was his second wife, not his first. That makes much more sense. She must have married Bennett between Hugh Rounds and Jackie Cail. I also meant to tell you that Lorraine's given name was Gertrude Lorraine Fredette and she was born in Rutland, VT.
Thanks so much for contacting me. Lorraine is my father-in-law's first cousin (I married into the Fredette family.) Their fathers were brothers. I have done a lot of the Fredette genealogy and can tell you that Lorraine's parents were Raymond Fredette (1903-2005) and Mildred Pelkey (1901-1972)In the family tree I see that she was married to Cail and then, in 1950, she married Hugh Rounds. My father-in-law remembers Hugh.
I can't find any information about her daughters but I'm back east right now visiting with family and will ask around. Could you scan a copy of the photo and email it to me? I would be very grateful. I would also love to know what other records you have.
Oh! Just so you have the right info, Lorraine's grandparents were actually Henry Louis Fredette (1882-1924) and Birdie Sylvia Manning (1885-1965.)Louis Allen was Lorraine's great-uncle, he was Henry Louis' brother.
RE: Hi Friend Thanks Arvis, Earlier today I was on here and already requested a photo but did not have the number. Mom died February 20, 005 and Argulous (Woody) died October 17, 1997. I also read all you had out on for your husband as Vel had told me it was on here. You write a very interesting story. Thanks again!
Great photo and story with it! Vince and Bobby are both in the area. Vince is in the Hudson area now (moved back down in the past few years from up north) and Bobby still lives in the Trilby area. Eileen was our next door neighbor when I was growing up in Trilby in the 1970s and 1980s.
I know several in the Gideons family and will try to find out about Jessie Gideons. My Black family married into the Gideons family at least a couple of times. Take care and keep in touch!
